Honestly I just lost a little respect for our legend Habib Mousa. If you like a song and want to sing it as an professional musician, sing it by it’s original lyrics. He’s changes the word “Of Oromoyutho” to “Of Gaborutho”. You just don’t do that with such an old and great song…
@mardutho Жыл бұрын
Myaqro, you should not loose respect for him. Here is the story. George Saliba wrote the lyrics of this song in 1963 to a folk tune, and taught it to his students, hundreds of them, in Qamishli, among them young Habib Mousa. In those days there were no problem singing Othuroyo/Oromoyo, which is evidenced by the song Dawre dilan from the same year. On the other hand, in the 1980's, the name conflict emerged to an extremely toxic level that if you were to sing Oromoyutho, people would group you to a fraction. In order to avoid this, Habib Mousa asked what he could do. A clergy, whom I will not mention here, was listening and suggested how about singing "w of gaborutho", and so Habib did. Now, in these days, it is easy to be wise after the event. I too think that no matter what, one has to stick to the original, because the song has stand against the time and is a timeless classic now long beyond the heated name conflict of the 1980's. But done is done. Habib Mousa is still a singer who loves his people, always sings the classics that contain Othuroyo/Oromoyo, and he has done this without gaining any wealth. He has provided a gift for the people, and for this we should be thankful. What about Bishop George Saliba? When Habib Mousa met him telling him the change of the lyrics, the bishop said "noshaqno caynox", metaphorically thanking him for creating such a beautiful melody to his poem.
@Mr.Lukas87 Жыл бұрын
Honestly I won’t buy that argument. We have plenty of songs written between 1960-1980 including names like Arameans or Assyrians, maybe the words disturb one or another but still they are performed with original lyrics. I think Habib Mousa wanted to neutralize a very classic and important song, I guess he didn’t want Arameans to feel like it was their song only. If your argument really is the truth, Habib Mousa would never use any of these names on any song!
@cscs91928 ай бұрын
@@mardutho That would have been justified if Habib Mousa was the author of the lyric. However, he was not. Habib mouse could have easily created his own lyric in that case. You have no right to modify someone else work, and especially not the name of your people (Oromoyo). Even if "done is done" we should tell the truth and condemn such act.
@suryoyegabore60436 ай бұрын
Hasyo George himself was a member of the Assyrian Democratic Organization, and is a proud Assyrian. When he used “Oromoyutho”, this should be placed within ADO’s concept of unity, where they have to take an oath where ancient Arameans, together with Assyrians, Chaldeans, Babylonians and Akkadians are all part of the modern Suryoye-Othuroye, under the Assyrian umbrella.
@LukasHaddad6 ай бұрын
@@suryoyegabore6043 come on guys! He changed one word and one word only, which is totally unacceptable. When changing one single word and that word is the name of an ancient people it just shows the hate he have for that name. Simple as that.

The world needs to see and hear what atrocities were committed against the Assyrian people. A culture and history spanning thousands of years thats constantly been attacked. To this day no justice has been given, and terror groups and governments are still attacking. I pray for the Assyrians out there, god bless you all. I hope for prosperity and peace in your homeland. Have children and big families to carry on the tradition, culture, and Aramaic language.
