I like the thoroughness of this video. I can start playing the game after watching this, and just use the book for reference. Also, I had to take a side quest while watching, to order a Tshirt like that

Small observation: rhe manual says the special location action can only be taken by the first character. I think this would mean the "card drawn without using a randomizing card" could have only be done once.

Hi. Do you know what happens if when Agent Craven heads to the boat and the mob is there, he fails his test to push through them? We tried it the other day and accidentally clicked on pass instead of fail ,which skewed the result of our game

I'm pretty sure Craven will get torn apart by the mob, but it won't cause you to lose the game. Ironically, you might lose because the captain refuses to leave without him while he's sitting in the library. It's a real pain point because you can get stuck on the wrong side of the mob if you rely on Craven looking out for the boat himself, and it feels really unfair if you didn't realize you needed to tell him to move. Thankfully if the captain *knows* Craven is dead, he's willing to leave. This is a major reason why I recommend clicking on all the interaction symbols once when they're revealed, because that's essentially giving you information you could glean from a quick look. More importantly, it tells you what interaction options are available. It may be a little unsportsmanlike to know what interaction options you have without being right next to something, but it's patently unfair when the game assumes you know you need to do something and doesn't give you needed info. All the interactions I've seen give you a quick description, and you have to click another button (usually spending an Action Point) to actually perform the interaction, so you're generally not getting "free" information that you shouldn't have from simply being able to see the interactable.

I don't even use first player or noise tokens anymore. Unless the mission specifically calls for noise in a certain location. Survivors themselves ARE noise tokens so it's usually easier just to guesstimate the noisiest zone. Regarding the first player token it really only helps determine which survivors haven't been activated yet in my opinion. A more engaging way to play is to just determine which survivor SHOULD go first given the current situation rather than being locked in place by the first player token. In a cooperative game particularly I find it better to encourage players to strategize at the beginning of each turn, and come up with a game plan of sorts. That's way better than just going clockwise by who has the token if you ask me. Extra tokens could be used to indicate a survivor has been activated for that turn and as such there is no need for the first player token at all.

Choosing turn order is a house rule I've seen in a lot of games, so I'll definitely consider it. I worry about game balance, but the alternative to choosing an order is having your game experience heavily influenced by chance. Having an inconvenient turn order shouldn't be something that ruins your game, in essence forcing you to replay just because of bad luck. Rule of Fun trumps Rules as Written, I think I agree with your recommendation and will probably do that for new episodes for this and similar games.

@@Wheel_of_Games Give it whirl! Best part about Zombicide if you ask me is that folks can play it however they like! If turn order works better for you then go for it! Abandoning turn order certainly poses it's own challenges to be sure, but again I like the idea of making the game even more cooperative in nature. Everybody wins and loses the game together after all. It shouldn't matter who got the most kills or the flashiest weapons cuz the game only ends if the players can achieve the objectives together! And I love that.

Just so it doesn't come around as a problem later: Inspiration CAN be used as a wildcard resource, but it's really not the intended use. You should (almost) always save it for its real purpose: spending 15 of it as an additional unlock during retirements. The only groups that should use it as wildcard are usually four-player groups that won't be able to accumulate the full 15 in any reasonable time period. In your case you'll typically want to save it for those unlocks!

That's a good long-term perspective. I was getting frustrated because I just wasn't getting much hide and I really wanted to build the trapper so that I could at least get a slow trickle of that resource. I think you're ultimately right about saving up the Inspiration for extra unlocks.

You do have a purchaseable item supply (your unlocked starting items), they're just not otherwise purchaseable yet!

Oh, interesting! So the shop encounter was actually a hidden method of buying items early! I didn't consider the purchasable items as unlocked until the shop comes around. That's a good clarification!

Not quite, this is more of a stealth puzzle game, more like Metal Gear Alien. You always start with your solo main character, the Matriarch, and then build up your team by consuming Biomass from your slain enemies. We'll see a bit later that more upgrade options became available for your grunts, and you can evolve them further between scenarios. There's no random chance to hit however, so combat is more like a puzzle than a chance-to-hit gamble as you'd see in X-Com. Many of the humans have guns, so you are better off making stealth attacks than ever entering a straight-up fight like X-Com, too.

1h32' : Deathwalker does not suffer damage from retaliation because she is not in range. Range of retaliation from algox guard is 1. Whenever an ability says 'as if i occupied' a hex means you have to check retaliation range (which can be more than 1 with flamme demon for example). Disadvantage to attacker with leather armor is automatic and happen at the first first attack you receive.

My reading on the "as if occupying" retaliation turns out to be wrong. Good catch! I always try to find a source so I can prove rule clarifications to myself, and I found a topic on the BGG forums that clarifies the rules for this ability: boardgamegeek.com/thread/3034626/deathwalker-if-occupying-hex-shadow-abilities-what As for the rule that you have to use armor, shields, and defensive abilities automatically when attacked I've always been conflicted. For a long time with Gloomhaven I treated that as optional, until one time I re-read the rules and realized it was probably mandatory. It's never quite sit right with me, but I think you are technically correct about having to use the armor right away. When there's an attack of 1 that would be a complete waste of my armor disadvantage, I'll admit I really want to be able to choose when to activate it and have considered making a house rule that it works that way.

I recommend you read through the “Welcome to Frosthaven” booklet.. it lays out very clearly how to set up all the different decks, cards, events, etc. tue initial item should be placed in the Available Purchasable item, and not Craftable.

City Guards are Allies to you, and Enemies to the Monsters, and should use the Ally Attack Modifier Deck.

Hi. To make automatic loot work, you need to set end of turn for each character by either clicking on the character in X-haven apps or clicking on the right side of TTS screen (battle interface)

You're totally right. I used all 3 of "he", "she", and "they" for the Banner Spear at different times. If I'm not thinking about it I default to "he", and I cringed a few times when I caught myself doing it. Not intentional, not sure why I keep defaulting to "he" for the Banner Spear in particular but it is a problem to correct. I'm trying to stick with "they" for the characters where I'm just not sure like the Boneshaper.

I'm confused by wanting to use as much physical pieces as you can and then only using the ability cards, map, and minis and everything else virtually. I think you just need to decide which way you want to do it not just say one thing and do another

While it is really fun to see the actual physical board and pieces I think the simulator will allow you to concentrate on game play and not juggling the different modes.

You're right. Good eye, that will save some actions in the future. 👍 It's not included in the "Learn to Play" guide, where it looks like the move action is a solid piece that has to be completed at once: "Move Action The investigator moves his investigator figure up to two spaces, moving one space at a time, from one space to an adjacent space. He cannot move through walls or impassable borders unless an effect specifically allows it. If an investigator attempts to move out of a space that contains a monster, he must first resolve an evade check." The Rule Reference on "Move Action" shows that you can split the move: "An investigator can perform the move action to move up to two spaces. ^ An investigator may interrupt his move action to perform another action. After he has finished performing that action, he may finish performing his move action. ^ If an investigator attempts to move out of a space that contains a monster as part of a move action, he must first resolve an evade check against that monster."

i have a question for you. i was playing the first mission, not the tutorial, but the first mission and i ran out of walkers when i was spawning in zombies. so since i didn't have enough zombies to spawn in all of those zombies of that type get a free activation. after doing that the walkers ended up in a zone with one of my survivors. then i had to spawn again and didn't have enough zombies again. so i had to free activation again. then the zombies killed my survivor. is that the right thing to do? if you dont have enough to spawn, you free advance that type of zombie? make sense?

Yes, I believe that if you have multiple spawn card draws that specify a type you are out of, it is intended that the zombies can get multiple free activations. It's supposed to be an end game-type mechanic to force you to kill zombies. I checked out this thread on BoardGameGeek to check my understanding: boardgamegeek.com/thread/852495/extra-activation-when-running-out-zombies I think it's also entirely acceptable for you to play as though you have unlimited zombie figures, and use whatever placeholder you want (say D20 dice) to indicate multiple zombies. After all, somebody with multiple expansions may have more miniatures than somebody with just the base game.

@@Wheel_of_Games i still have it set up. i may continue with placeholders. it is right at the end of the game. all my survivors have the objectives, the required amount of food. 2 of my survivors are at the exit and after this zombie move phase i will be able to get the other 4 survivors out. i have no problem losing the game as i like to follow the rules. thank you for the reply.

Thank you! I'm trying to make the first video for each game a full tutorial, where I thoroughly go over all the rules. I'm planning to rely on these front-loaded videos for the rules explanations going forward so the future videos can be a little shorter. I still plan to talk through the reasoning behind decisions and the relevant rules during gameplay, as I think that's what makes my gameplay special.

Nice, a win on the first show. That bathroom came in clutch given how many times the guard passed by it. I was expecting the acrobat to be the one with zero stealth left. But somehow you managed to exit with as many as you started.
