It's honestly been so long ago that I don't even remember. To be honest though, you should just check out VR Expansion Plugin for Unreal. It has a working vehicle with physical controls, and Unreal's vehicle system is basically better than NWH Vehicle Physics on Unity (free too). Not to mention, there is rudimentary multiplayer support already provided by the plugin. You can be in vehicles with other players already. Trust me, learning how to use VRE for Unreal will save you months of work. It's definitely the most fleshed out VR framework I've ever used.

@@TheDrunkenFROG The project has shifted focus, but I am still working on a multiplayer VR game. I don't think I can share the specific project anymore because there may be money behind it sometime in the coming months. I can still offer pointers though, and I am considering making a course to get people started when I quit my day job and work on VR stuff full time. My current implementation is much cleaner now, compared to the one shown in the video.

Hi guys, I don't know why this video has been getting slightly more views lately, but it's becoming clear that I may need to make a tutorial video. I can't send project files because my project contains paid assets(FinalIK is one of them of course). I need to first reacquaint myself with how I did this since it was done like, half a year ago. Also, I will likely be trying to do it with VRTK v4 instead of v3, which is shown in this video. After I do, I will make the video (perhaps under a new channel) and post info on where to find it here. Sorry that I do not have the time to get this information up sooner as I have a full time job and commission work on the side. Best of luck to you all until then, and once again I am sorry that I can not get it out sooner.

@@M0TYSHIZ The hands of avatar vrik follow my controller well but not the head, it is above the avatar while the attachment is centered on the head of the avatar. You could deposit the asset on github or other platform? That would make it easier to understand? Sorry i translate by google i have bad english!

How do you sync and instantiate the animated hands like the VRTK basichands in multiplayer with the remote avatar?

Hello, sorry for the delay. Each hand, the head, and the root of each player have Photon views and have PUN Transform Views. I use FinalIK's VRIK to track the avatar to the network tracked head, hand, and base gameobjects. So for each client, the only VR rig that exists in their scene is their own, while remote players are only represented via their tracked avatars.

@@M0TYSHIZ Yes I have done that, but still cant get it to work. Have you tried the PlayoVR VRTK, I used that to test it and put the VRTK Basichand on both LeftController, and RightController GameObjet but can´t get it to work. Thanks for your input.

@@pushthebutton4602 In playoVR you have PlayerAvatar.prefab, you copy a character with a VRIK script, and you attach the PlayerAvatar hand and head to the VRIK script

It is done with built unit options if including Photon and VRTK assemblies, yes. I believe for Photon I had to include both PUN and Realtime. I also built units from my own scripts where I had simple functions to update Photon room custom properties.

Hello, How did you setup VRTK scripts to work with UNet in this project (prior to shifting over to Photon). Was it a matter of just changing Monobehavior to NetworkBehavior, or is there more steps?

There were more steps. If you want, I could send you a few setup scripts. All they essentially did was frame by frame track the VR Rig's hands and heads to network transform tracked hands and head entities (The cubes). As a matter of fact, I didn't have to fiddle within any VRTK scripts in particular. Though my setup scripts do reference VRTK methods for finding tracked left and right hands. However, I highly recommend you don't go with UNet. UNet is being deprecated, and only has support for 2 more years. By the time you build your game, UNet will be defunct. Additionally, Photon handles RPC calls much more simply. The hard part of all of this was understanding what functions ran on the server, and how to synchronize state.

Nice to meet you. I'm sorry it is poor English because I am using Google translation. I am creating a multiplayer game that uses virtual body model in VR space using VRIK of Final IK and VRTK. First of all we can not link the controller and HMD movements to three game objects. Especially "Rotation" can not link successfully. Next, when I run it on the server and the client, there are two models on the space, but the models overlap, the two models move at the same time. Currently, these two problems can not be solved. How can we solve it? I would like advice / opinions. I am sorry that it became a long sentence but I hope you can help us.

Sorry, but I have yet to work with FinalIK. I would not be able to help in this matter, especially since it is a complex matter that would be very time consuming to solve, given our language barrier. @@kin4580 They are actually each their own prefab. The head is the one marked as the player object. The hands get instantiated during runtime, so they are registered as spawnable prefabs in the Network Manager. I have a script that has a coroutine that tracks the hand objects to the VR controller positions, likewise with the head. I have since updated my project to use Photon instead of UNet, and I highly recommend you do the same. UNet is getting deprecated, and Photon makes a number of things easier.

@@kin4580 I delayed my transition to Photon from UNet as well, but I wish I didn't. This is because it is easier to handle transfer of authority in Photon than UNet. If you want a quick look into how it works, Google "Photon Ownership Transfer". Photon is fantastic because any client can spawn objects and automatically have authority over them. Additionally, with Photon, you don't have to use [Command] and [ClientRPC] loops, because you can simply call an RPC from any client and choose it to target all of the other clients. I was going to make a tutorial video for how I accomplished what is going on in this one, but I may just make a Photon one in the future instead. I know it's a little frustrating to learn another system, but trust me, the earlier you switch, the easier it will be.

I got the movement syncing basis from watching "Building a Multiplayer Metaverse with UNet from Scratch". It's a much longer video than it has to be though, and it only covers head and hand tracking, nothing regarding locomotion or anything beyond that. The end result had issues that I addressed in the comments. If you are struggling to set up a testing environment, I recommend using Sandboxie to run another Unity Editor alongside your main one. Then use VRTK so that one of the clients uses the VRSimulator. Maybe I really should make a tutorial showing the setup. This was the result of a good amount of googling and troubleshooting.
