How long did it take you round trip with kids? Did you see any bears? Thanks!
@simplemidwestlife7390 Жыл бұрын
hi! sorry for the delay -- I need to get better at responding to comments. We took a total of 6 hours for the 6-mile round trip. We brought a lunch and spent at least an hour at the lake. We did see a bear but it was quite far away on a hill. The trial is pretty popular, and most people are carrying bear spray, so we felt safe.

Struggled slightly at end of driveway, but that’s to be expected. Love the lightweight simplicity of this machine, and with the paddle auger, there’s really not much to go wrong. Engine seemed up to the task, and in all but the deepest or wettest snows, this appears to rival bigger, heavier, clunkier 2 stage units. I’m now considering this for my home in central VT.

My 824 Qxe is a piece of junk. Brand new and on the second time the auger belt burnt
@ralphfraumeni61903 жыл бұрын
Think about. Your's is junk and this one runs fine. These machines are not consistently set up out of the box. That's why I'll never buy any OPE anywhere other than a professional dealer. They know these machines in and out and set them up to work as they should. You may want to bring yours in for a going over. It will be well worth it. And their pricing is competetive in my experience.

You would've been a lot happier had you had an Ariens Deluxe 28 SHO.
@mellowjammer4 жыл бұрын
I have both snow throwers and for snow like this the Toro is a much faster, lighter & easier to use machine, even if the bucket is 4" narrower. I only take out my 2 stage Ariens when absolutely necessary and for where I live, that's not often.

Beautiful and so relaxing especially with the drone.

First drone video I've seen of snowblowing. Nicely done. Those Snowmasters definitely overachieve for a single stage and do better than I'd expect. That end of the driveway pile showed why I'll stick with a two stage, being in a cul de sac mine are typically higher than that. But, it still did it.
@mellowjammer4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the EOD pile is where a powerful 2 stage shines, especially if it's icy or really heavy snow. The pile in this video is powder, and only the first pass through is a little bit of effort. After that you take partial bites of it and it's gone in no time.

My 824 qxe goes right through the end of the driveway pile even if it's higher than the 18" intake height. My neighbors Ariens 2 stage did no better.

I am contemplating buying a 824 or 724 for my sidewalks behind my regular bigger snow blower to get down to the cement without having to shovel so much... your video is really cute with your young kids, as mine are grown and moved away... anyway, the 824 is looking good! Thanks for a great video... really like the elevated shots!
@simplemidwestlife73906 жыл бұрын
Go with the 824 -- you'll have this thing for years and the larger motor is a small investment to tackle the big snows in the long term!
@charredskeleton5 жыл бұрын
Honestly a single stage would be perfect for that.
@mellowjammer4 жыл бұрын
@@charredskeleton Yes, a traditional single stage clears down to the pavement better than the Snowmaster because the rubber paddles scrape the ground. The Snowmaster's auger does not...it has a scraper bar like 2 stage machines do. It works ok but if you have packed-down snow it does not clean to the pavement as well as the traditional single stage machine will.
@smitastic70302 жыл бұрын
@@charredskeleton It is a single stage. It's like a combo, but with the personal pace system is a lot faster than a 2 stage.
@charredskeleton2 жыл бұрын
@@smitastic7030 see mellowjammer's comment. While interesting the snow master is a comprimise. Any comprimise can be seen for its strengths or weaknesses. The ultimate is to simply have two seperate machines. Both a single stage and a two stage. Extoll the virtues of both.

Just got one today and I'm quite happy so far. I'm not getting as close to the driveway surface as I would like though. May try and reset the runners. It throws really far and the drive system is not a problem once you understand how to just walk with it. Enjoyable video, thanks!

Loving my 724 QXE. Super easy to use and very fast. We've had both wet slushy snow and dry powdery snow and she hasn't even come close to clogging. It's like the ease and maneuverability of a single stage with the power and throw of a two stage.

Nice video, I’ve been eyeing these for a while. We got the same snowstorm in Buffalo NY. I like the drone point of view to bad it wasn’t down a little farther to see end of driveway. I’ve been using the Toro CCR3650 for a while I like the cleaning principle of the paddles. Gonna have to get the drone out and shoot my own 👍
@simplemidwestlife73906 жыл бұрын
Thanks! yeah, when i positioned the drone, I thought I had the end of the driveway in view but later realized it wasn't. It was so cold flying without gloves on that I was in a hurry! My new Toro is great!
@jfox93176 жыл бұрын
Yep flying in the cold is tough usually the battery dies before i can even get my gloves on. What kind of drone do you use, I’ve got Hubsan’s and Bugs 2.
