NAZARÉ is a beautiful city! It is still affordable and free of too many tourists! Unfortunately, the fishing activities, for which NAZARÉ is better known, are on the verge of disappearing! Cascais is also a phenomenal place to stay, near Lisbon, but more cosmopolitan!

What do you think about the new music of Iolanda with other Portuguese musicians? It's an ancient folk music mixed with electronic rhythms. See it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWKkoJyDnKZ_jrc

8:37 This reminds me of another story, about helpfulness and good will among the Portuguese; of José Correia Guedes (retired TAP captain), when he was the co-pilot on a flight that got hijacked in 1980, and it all got peacefully and amicably sorted out. He recounted it many times in podcasts and in his books (yt: "José Correia Guedes sequestro"). Edit: Oh he actually has told it on this channel as well :)

Yep! That's Us. Portuguese people are not just nice people. We have this thing concerning " establish rules" that we tend to ignore if we beleave that the benefits surpass the constraints. Sometimes it's wonderful, other times it makes us look like fools. Força Portugal

There are sacred burial sites in the Alentejo near Evora that are situated in a similar shape to Stonehenge. This mound is supposed to be many thousands of years old going back to the time of Egypt. Very few people know about it is very much worthwhile to visit.

This isn’t necessarily a good thing. Being cognizant of someone learning our language is one thing. Being over-accommodating, so that foreigners never learn our language or need to is another issue. That is why we have so many people here who never even learn to speak at an A2/B1 level to communicate on a basic level. The poor and working class who migrate here tend to learn the language since they need to, in order to find work here. It is the wealthy foreigners who don’t feel the need to learn the language. That is becoming more of an issue for many Portuguese that I know.

We sold up aged 44 and moved to Portugal in 2002. No plans, no destination in mind, just adventure. We fell in love with Alto Alentejo, bought our house in 2003 and spent 2 years renovating, exploring and just having experiences. Moved back to restore our finances in 2006, but got back permanently in 2013. We eked out our savings until our private pensions came in 2018. We've never been back, never going back and every single day has been perfect.

Everything you said was a lie. Expats don't feel integrated, they feel served by Portuguese who earn at least 3 times less and can not afford the rents under any circumstances. I live for 8 years in Portugal. First thing I did here was learning the language. Until now, I only know a very very few expats who speak at least a little Portuguese. My Portuguese girlfriend is often the only Portuguese in a dinner, party, gathering, etc... Only 4 years ago we saw many Portuguese, old friends... Nowadays, nobody, only foreigners, the culture is dying, the expats bubble is getting bigger and bigger.

There are all kinds of crimes taking place in Portugal. Why do people still pretend that Portugal is so safe? This is a fantasy of the Portuguese people, but is not as safe as they try to pretend. If you don't believe me, watch the news and you will see that something doesn't add up. Boa sorte!
