It is absurd to state that a debit card is faster, more effective than direct deposit. It is neither. Mailing such cards in the mess that de Joynes has made of the USPS is slow, and subject to misdirection or loss. It also gives the government a not necessarily benevolent eye into expenditures, a possible political weapon. The decision to use cards rather than direct deposit seems odd, poorly considered,illogical. As I recall, this was to be available tomorrow, via direct deposit. If nothing else, this represents yet another delay in helping the people.
