Used a GoPro 9 to try to determine if my life was interesting enough for an action camera. It was, but the GoPro failed its tests. Simultaneously overheated and couldn't stand the cold. When I filmed my plane landing it overheated enough to destroy a battery. Then when I went to go on a snowmobile ride the fully charged practically new Enduro battery died at 50%. At this point I just went and bought an Action 4 and honestly the quality and handling has been great. It still heats up, but the only time it has heated up to the point where it stopped recording was when it was under the hot sun and the plane was very delayed waiting for takeoff.

bought the hero 11 mini an had the exact same problem, just a device that wouldn't even turn on and got hot when I tried to charge it. Shame that it's so common, I will be going to DJI after that!

I have the exact same issue with my 11 Black Mini. It's dead, but when trying to charge it get's hot without any sign of life

The hero 11 mini and 10 bones were total crapshoots, terrible products. The 12 and 13 don't have these issues. The 11 mini is just a terrible product, it has all the issues you described. If you're looking for the best quality, unfortunately GoPro hands down wins, but the durability/ease of use can be questionable. Basically unless you're filming something specific, for most professional shots GoPro is the best you can get.

out of about 8 gopros i have one working. love the picture but the durability and firmware quality is terrible. screw gopro, gonna go dji now.

have 11mini , never crashed so.. it works . still. got 13. just new few flights - great but heavy/ action 2 never was good to me - wobbles in nay tpu. only few drones can make it smooth but very precisely and well tuned . caddx peanut (go2) - perfect for day to day freestyle(crashed, scratched. etc) - just works and 1:1 2.5K perfectly gyroflowed and .. awesome. 3S.. pity expensive money wasted

How much does a drone like that, headset like that and a control like that cost?

If only they shipped a mini with decent firmware. Hero5 session had the same problems. I suspect it was due to battery management/saving measures. Mi hero5 session started working pretty good after I removed the battery and started powering it thru USB only.

I just went through the pain of trying to buy an action camera, and ended up with the hero 13. DJI puts spyware into their app and they require you to use the app to activate the camera. You can’t actually buy the ace pro 2 right now, so that’s the insta 360 out. If you want a good camera you can actually buy that doesn’t spy on you, GoPro still wins.

What you really need is a good shock absorber on your action cam !

The biggest two issues I hear constantly with GoPro is the low light performance and the crappy battery life. Didn't realize the durability wasn't that great either. I ordered a insta360 ace pro 2. Doesn't have 10 bit but I don't need that so it's the perfect action camera imo for non professionals. The two chips give it really good video quality (better than DJI, not quite as good as GoPro in daylight yet) and the best low light performance. Plus a bunch of useful AI features. Durability is extremely solid too, I have seen videos of tossing this thing around to test it and it's completely fine

Yea, i swore off gopro since my hero 7 black. My Session 5 cams were a legend, they could take so much abuse and just worked. Now i run an Action 4 and O3 DVR, which is honestly good enough for most use cases. O4 DVR will be extremely close to most high end action cams.

Well the perceived loudness is probably lower because humans have a tendency to hear different frequencies louder or less loud.

Been using them for all sort of stuff, never caugth fire, or even exploded, dont say stuff u dont know, yes they are more at risk than some battery, but not "incredably" risky

Just lithium ion batteries that are in most non toy devices these days. They catch fire when the lithium is exposed to oxygen.

Get the GoPro subscription. They have a thing for replacing cameras.

I had the same GoPro experience with the Hero 7 (got one, did the overheating/shutdown thing, got a new one, happened again), switched to insta360, and haven't looked back
