If you don't get into your program, it could be a blessing in disguise. If the partnership for primary care program has a requirement that you go into a primary care specialty, it may be advantageous to wait and just apply broadly MD/DO or retake the MCAT early next year and still have time to strengthen other parts of your app if you're gonna apply MD/DO. A primary care specialist makes ~250k USD which would be the opportunity cost of waiting 1 year to break the contract with A&M and apply. However, if you end up enjoying fields like radiology, cardiology, anesthesia, or surgery, then the opportunity cost is anywhere from 10-12 million USD since those specialties make 2-3x what a primary care doctor earns. Money isn't everything but medicine offers a wide variety of combinations between income, lifestyle, and job satisfaction, and primary care doctors tend to be the most overworked, underpaid, and burnt out physicians. But, the med school admissions process is rough, I applied to 15 USMD schools and 5 DO schools with a 514 MCAT and only got into DO schools so it be like that

Man I hated the MCAT so much. But it worked out-current M1 at my state school. If it makes you feel better, a few concepts are actually used in med school, especially biochem. Anyway good luck, hope it works out well for you
