Poetry in whatever style is poetry, that is according to the poet. I refer to myself as a poet but in a style that I like, that is rhyming poetry. I have tried to enjoy poets like Billy Collins and his works but I cannot, for they do not rhyme. I am not a well-known poet, in fact, I only have a few printed on the Net, and I am happy to see that some folk are reading them. So I say to poets the likes of Billy "Write as you see fit", my attempts will however still rhyme.

Thinks conceptual poetry is like the conceptual art in a large Museum with room one; a tin can; room two, two tin cans Etc. Give me Robert Frost or Schneiderama any day. Okay PS I kept listening and started laughing at the traffic radio announcer section.

I think the jewel is probably the best person that I've ever heard write poetry it's emotional it's moving makes sense in real life it was a poem that she did on an album it was about this girl and acting out down the block

Recycling what already exist and forms it what's called poetry. His style at least, is boring, but the energy given, through vocal and written pieces, is what gives it substance. In other words, his charisma gave new meaning to an excerpt that would be considered by many, including, dull and uniteresting. For one who was born in the New York light, I don't need to be anymore aware of its chaos than what I'm currently living through. Goldsmith's energy exhibits his words more than his words should, if that makes sense.

This "useless worthless thing I wove out of boredom" reminds me of that Oscar Wilde quote: The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. You know the saying about gifts, "It's the thought that counts"? Well, maybe it really is the thought that counts.

Billy Collins is fantastic! He's one of my favorite poets. I actually enjoy reading his poetry. Too many other poems are too hard for me to understand. The "Lanyard" poem is the perfect poem for Mother's Day.

They're laughing because it's a recognition of reality. The image of the two masks-the comedy and tragedy of life sitting side by side.

Billy Collins is clearly a better teacher and poet than Rita Dove. She is not a great poet. Her Poet Laureate had to be political only. And Billy honestly just writes funny prose. Rita writes nothing well.

Goldsmith writes conceptual poetry - you aren't even supposed to read it, really, it is about the idea and the process - the fact that he is reading traffic in front of the president is fucking hilarious and I'm sure Goldsmith was very aware of how ridiculous that situation must be for Obama who just has to sit there and nod and pretend he is interested. The man is a genius.

Mostly, "our tax dollars" support genocidal wars, CIA coups and U.S. capitalist imperialsm. Kenny Goldsmith's poetry is surely some of the most benign stuff "our tax dollars" are supporting.
