this pea brain of mine must have missed something. You said that it will take 2 or 3 years to show a profit on that field. Are you saying that your selling hay and not using it all for your own consumpstion?

Correct. We make more than enough to feed our livestock and sell the extra to offset costs of equipment, fuel, and maintenance.

Interesting video, but I don't understand the point of failure of the fan drive/fan. What was the symptom that brought your attention to the assembly, and what part actually failed.
@FreedomFarmsMo2 күн бұрын
The bearings as shown in the video failed, likely due to a leak and the oil being low causing the bearings to get hot and quit essentially.

One thing about a Deere you see more old Deeres than the Allis Chalmers and a Yes Sarge I am a Deere man
@FreedomFarmsMo4 күн бұрын
These videos are just for fun and jokes just so you know. I feel like I see way more antique Allis Chalmers like the WD or WD45 than the equivalent Deere. I will also say though that Deere produced far more quantities of their tractors than Allis ever did. For instance Deere produced 184,879 4020 where Allis only made 22,419 190XT tractors which were their direct competitor for the 4020. Don't get me wrong Deere does make quality tractors but they are far from what they made in the 4000 series era. After that they stopped making tractors and their parts here truthfully. That is the biggest problem I have with their products. Their shirts will say Waterloo Iowa or Moline Illinois but realistically they should say Mexico or even Taiwan as that is where a large portion of their parts are made. When I buy parts for my Allis though the majority of them are still coming from west Allis Wisconsin and other USA manufacturer locations. Hope you are having a good day Terry!
@terryburgettburgett9654 күн бұрын
@@FreedomFarmsMo one thing that I know about Deere is that they have kept all of the dealership through the hard times and it is easier to get service done. Here where I am from I have 3 ag dealerships and one construction dealership that can service my equipment and pretty much eliminated all down time. And service like that it's worth a little more
@FreedomFarmsMo4 күн бұрын
An actual service dept has it's place of course. For me, Agco has a parts book app. It allows you to look up and explode the diagram to see how everything goes together even. My local Agco dealership which is roughly 50 minutes away vs the Deere dealer which is about 35 minutes away, and there are more Deere dealers of course. But I can order a part and pick it up or for $12 dollars it will be overnighted to my farm and I'll have it at around 11 the next morning. Of course that price goes up the bigger or heavier an item is such as a gear box or something. Either way my parts likely being made in the USA, a part books on your phone or online, and having an option to deliver my part for $12 the next day from any dealer in the region too is a handy convenience and far outweighs the Deere pricing in my opinion. But let's face it how boring would the world be if we all lived the same way, I'm glad Deere works for you guys and that you have good service there too

To often, Farmers are at risk of losing or wasting "$$time$$", because they are not aware of their options! 1. Never operate a piece of farm equipment without an assembled spare tire & wheel, on hand! Every piece of equipment needs an assembled tire/wheel! After you finish your plowing, throw the flat tire onto your tire changer, replace or repair your flat tire and or tube! Then your spare tire is always ready to be used; that includes, every tire/wheel assembly for every style of wheel for every piece of equipment! Good Luck! STP.
