What do you use to secure the dowels in place? Excellent set of videos by the way, exactly what I needed.

Do you leave the risers in so you have a height to fill the mortar to? Then remove and patch in before you place the stone?

Hi Tom, Are you referring to the hearth or the mantel?
@mikechase45896 жыл бұрын
that is a huge grout joint. Why not just cast the mantels hallow core instead of making it solid and so heavy?
@ArchitecturalaccentsATL6 жыл бұрын
Mike, we want our mantels to look & sound like the real thing. Our work focuses on maintaining the principles and parameters of traditional architecture.
@jacobwillow0506 жыл бұрын
how much are you charging for installing such mantles?
@ArchitecturalaccentsATL6 жыл бұрын
Hello Jacob - We don't provide installation services, we sell antique and reproduction mantels that should be installed in the manner outlined in the video. If you are in the Atlanta area we can recommend someone, otherwise, contact your local brick-mason.

*Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to me! 😄 I bought this fireplace for myself and I love it >>>**t.co/MEbTuJBwuL** !!!!! It heats a fairly large room even on a 10F degree night! It's like having a real fireplace without all the mess and smoke! I received excellent service from Chris who sent me a 2nd remote as mine damaged by FedEx. I'm sooooo happy! Thank you!*

Do I kneed to put a damp membrane down . Under the hearth
@ArchitecturalaccentsATL6 жыл бұрын
Dear Dave, Thanks for your question. Actually , I never worry about a membrane as such because the mix is so dry that the moisture, such as it is works upwards.through cast stone or stone and evaporates within a week or so. If it were a wetter mixture ,you would.have to paint on or install a barrier. However,there is no harm painting on any moisture barrier or sealer before installing the sand/cement base, if you wish to. But the key in all cases is to mix the bed material so that it is just past dry, and not.wnd up.with a thick slurry. I hope.this helps you ; keep in touch and send photos of your finished project . If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact me. All my best , Charles

Sorry for nitpicking but that's a hearth extension not a hearth :-)
