so on my 98 strad 750 my front master cylinder cracked where the bolt goes, i know it needs to be replaced but i was wondering if there was something universal i could switch too? i bought shortys clutch lever changed out fine but the brake was too thick to fit in the slot where the bolt goes so i tried a little force then it cracked/broke

Sounds like an opportunity to upgrade from the old school axial master cylinder to a modern radial style master cylinder. That is what I did, and I recommend it. You can spend loads of cash and get the fancy Brembo. I went with a Nissin Radial master cylinder, and I love it.

Thanks for the video. Have you done a long ride after installing the ZG windscreen? If you did, was there a significant difference between the two in terms of fatigue after riding for 45-60 minutes?
@MonkeyButtRides
@MonkeyButtRides 14 күн бұрын
I do notice a difference, I don't know if the difference after 1 hour is "significant" but it's a big difference when I'm on a road trip and on the bike for the better part of the day and the one I got is the shortest of the touring screens, I think there are two other sizes with more protection.

how much fluid did you put?
@MonkeyButtRides
@MonkeyButtRides 14 күн бұрын
For the outter tube the service manual recommends a range. I run close to max because I'm a fairly heavy rider and the more fluid you put in the more bottoming resistance you get. The range is around 11-12 ounces. I will double check my manual in the AM but I think it's like 10.8 - 12.2. You could put in 11 ounces and be just fine. I also run 7wt but I think the standard is 5wt.

Through the bearing*
@MonkeyButtRides
@MonkeyButtRides Ай бұрын
It's been a minute but from what I remember, the swingarm bearings need to be measured when pressed in. They are supposed to recess in only so far and there is no back stop on the swingarm like there is in the linkage. For the linkage you press the bearing in until it hits the back stop and won't go in any further. Swingarm is press, measure, press some more, measure some more and then stop once they are recessed inside the swingarm the right amount. If your collars are sticking out it's probably because the bearings are not in all the way? Again, it's been a hot minute, I may not be remembering correctly.

@MonkeyButtRides Ай бұрын
The K&N's are reusable, you wash/dry and oil them. How often really depends. I live in a dry climate, not much dust and I avoid the rain like I'm allergic to water. Plus I have multiple bikes so I don't put a ton of miles on anyone one bike. I clean my air filter once a year. If I put all my miles on one bike, I would probably do it every 6 months or so or if I rode in the rain/dust more often I would clean the air filter more often.

Have you seen any discoloration from using full-strength Superclean on the plastics, chain or sprocket? All I have been seeing is warning about don't use it on aluminum or motorcycles in general but I used full-strength simple green on everything and it seemed ok. just curious what your experience has been.

No I use it on my bike. Pretty much everywhere. Where I have seen discoloration from Superclean is on unpainted aluminum surfaces. My old GSXR 600 from the late 90;'s has an unpainted aluminum frame and swingarm. I did experience some discoloration on the unpainted aluminum. All that said, I think its strength is as a degreaser.

All the dust I saw on the clean side of the air box turned me off. I also was shocked that they don't recommend washing or oiling their filter I get how convenient it is to not have to wait for the filter to dry and then oil it but man the oil is a big part of how that fine dust get's trapped. Anyway, I will do a comparison between my ZX10 (running a KN) and the busa this fall when I service the air filters again. For me, right now, the sprint is a good race filter but I have my doubts in regards a real street bike.
