dont buy phillips they want keep app update... the stop them to make you buy a new tv. my tv has not had a new software update since 2013 it tells me i have the update version they want keep you updated.

What if my orange light is on. But it doesn’t work with my tv. Also once In a while when turning the tv on it’ll say 152 days past due for update but there’s no way for me to push ok. To do it because the remote doesn’t work

One important thing to add (which was driving me nuts for weeks), is that Philips TVs are quite dumb apparently, and if you have a stretched video issue on AndroidTV side while playing video on KZbin or Plex while you have another input (like HDMI3) connected (but not used at the moment) the HDMI3 aspect ratio will be inherited onto AndroidTV video playback affecting KZbin and Plex.

Bought this unit brand new a few years back,hooked it up and used it twice.went and got a new 75 in" tv and figured it would be cool to pull out the big boy and couldn't figured out how to hook up woofer to sound bar. This hot me there!!! Thanks!!

Oh my. Your instructions are the only one that worked to get my remote working with my tv while in safe mode. Thank you so very much. I worked on troubleshooting this for two hours before I found your video that finally saved me. I could t get to the settings menu due to being in safe mode and my remote did not work because I changed the batteries and it was no longer paired. Thank you thank you thank you! So frustrating.

My remote blinks orange it does nothing after trying everything in this video. Before I tried the only thing working was the voice command button. Activated voice command but it didn’t work. After reseting remote now it does absolutely nothing other than blinking orange.

Thank you for this video. It was most helpful. I bought one of these players second hand recently and the previous owner had the resolution set in 4k and I tried to hook it to my 1080p TV and wondered why I wasn't getting a picture. But your detailed step by step video(puts the manufacturer to shame) helped guide me to a resolution. In fact you even show an example of it at 10:16 in the runtime. That was the part that I needed to know in order to get this up and running on my TV so THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES for taking the time to actually explain something thoroughly unlike the companies themselves

I had to get a new tv... A philips smart tv is what i webt with... My old tv is having a problem with edid handshakes.. and isnt displaying 4k like it should and was before .. an update on my xbox?? My old tv does not support forcing the edid into a specific state needed for the xbox to reconize it, or at least i could jot for the life of the tv( its ded to me now) change the setting to have my xbox reconize the tv... This is a game changer for phillips and XBOX, AS THIS IS WIDE SPREAD ISSUE FOR MANY XBOX s/x, s/s as well as previose consoles that had similar problems with 1080(not just 4k, or newer consoles: issues). I can officially say if you have an xbox with edid issues simmilar to mine (stuck in 480p on xbox s/x w/4ktv ) - this tv and this video guide with the information on how to force edid on your philips tv is a must see... Almost bought a PS5 after being a dedicated XBOX user since the launch of the first console i still own, sitting in line with all my newer generations... Wish i could find a similar vid for my old tv...but for now im happy i went with Philips on a whim!

I’ve got a Philips 8200 series android. Worst buy ever! A long time ago Philips were known for their quality and long lifespan! Nowadays it’s all crap and obsolete after 2, 3 years.. And android always was always unstable and sucked big time! 😒

I've had this player and a 4k tv since 2019 and it's worked perfectly fine until yesterday, it can play Blu-Ray discs perfectly but for some reason it stopped playing 4k discs that have no scratches, I reset the setting and still nothing changed
