Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t you want to use the 0.020 wire? The code book says over 0.75 to 1.50. I think you would want to go with the 0.625-0.75 since the material is 3/4”.

do you have the epoch 650 that you could do a calibration video for? A-scan straight beam and angle beam.

Do you have any videos with velocities in 10^5 cm/s and m/s being converted to mm?
@DirtyLarry-x3k
@DirtyLarry-x3k 8 ай бұрын
Write out the full numbers for meters or cm as they specify in the question (without scientific notation to keep it simple) and then convert to mm (by moving the decimal one space to the right for cm to mm, or by moving the decimal place three spaces to the right for meters to mm) and do the same as in this video for calculations with the numbers for Hz. To convert to inches at the end for the near field length, divide mm by 25.4.

Man you make it look easy! my professor made us scan 10 plates yesterday and I just got 4 plates done ( he told me to turn it in). What gets me confused is when you scan a little signals pop up ( we were using the weld probe). looks like i'm going to fail that particular assignment ( i hope i get quicker in scanning plates)

So the pie gauge is not something that could be used in a arc gouged backing weld ? Bottom of a arc gouged bevel would only be 3/8" wide .

I got a quick question, let say your plate thickness is .625" or 5/8", using a 10" range screen. What will be my paremeter to watch for on my screen in order to eliminate irrelevant reflection on my screen?

If you reposition and re-shape the eddy current-inducing coil so that it horizontally laid out (instead of the vertical orientation), the eddy currents are induced and stretched-out over a larger surface area of the metal. You end up with horizontally-oriented eddy current in the metal layer. We then position a vertically-oriented static magnetic field. Since the 90 degree cross of electric (eddy) current with a magnetic field results in the Lorentz force, the charged particles in the metal are coherently accelerated by the Lorentz force. Our horizontally-oriented eddy current coil is fed with very high frequency (RF). The result is - immense accelerations of the charged particles in the metal. Our test device consists of ten layers of aluminum foil, each layer separated by insulation. The thickness of the aluminum foil has a 'skin depth' for a frequency of 10 Mhz. Very nice, very clear explanation of eddy currents - thank you!
