Both are diesels. I have been told unofficially that because the panda was far above an emissions band for tax, it had a normal alternator, and because the 500L was originally just above a tax band threshold, then they fitted a smaller alternator to get the co2 and NoX emissions down for cheap tax.

500L is on diesel, panda is on petrol? Diesel engine warm up slower.
