What are the location of the trails at windrock. Like what trails is it near
@endurowarrior23 күн бұрын
Honestly? No one will ever tell you this. The single tracks are located in a strictly secret place, and I don't have the authority to share them. I know this is not what you wanted to hear. But if I shared them, I would anger many locals who ride here. Another thing is that if I post the location, a bunch of adventure people with big heavy motorcycles would immediately show up, not to mention the ATV riders, who would destroy all the trails in no time. I don't think anyone will ever share these trails on the internet. Those who know where they are, know; those who don't should find them on their own, and if you do find them, keep it a secret.

This is a more difficult track. It's quite visible now. When the leaves fall, you're almost blind and you can hardly find your way. Anyway, it's all secret paths. If you can find it you can wander along it, but nobody will actually tell you where it is, and that's fine. I know many trails, like a 100-150 miles. Usually nobody around there. I would not recommend this for your ADV style. This is not the place for ADV bikes.

It's not that hard. I'd say it's about medium hard. There are really tough sections in this park, with very steep rocky climbs. What's disturbing is the heat, we've had readings over 100 F. TN is very hot and very high humidity in the summer. Even at 10pm it was sweltering.

My dude! That was pretty gnar gnar at the start. I'm a local to the Swell but I havent been in that spot. I'm guessing its south of the highway, perhaps starting from Temple Mountain Road and heading south to the back of the reef somewhere? The rock at the start seems like the very ancient rocks I know from the Crawford Draw area in the center of the swell, and those cliffs with the red or yellow layered stuff at their base at the end of the ride seem like the formations I have seen (but never explored) when I look north from the "Back of the Reef Road". I just have a KLX300 and I'm a newbie. Gotta hand it to you... I'd like to be able to ride that well someday. Great vid!

It's more of a Jeep and ATV trail. Cyclists take a different section, much further out. When you get up to the main road, you see bicyclists, there is a bike path on the left, who I talked to said they just roll down, sometimes they have to pedal a little bit.

Whatever. The black TC 2.1 looks better. But in the long run, I've found that the black one is much louder, and has a much deeper sound. The TC2 is also loud after a while, but not as deep. Both are good choices in my opinion.
@kcomst4 ай бұрын
@@endurowarrior Agreed black looks way better, which is what I wanted. I don't care about the noise difference. But all I could find in the TC 2.1 was raw aluminum, not black. I still probably would have got a silver 2.1 but found a 2.0 priced about $30 cheaper than all the other 2.0 and 2.1 TCs which was the deciding factor. Somewhere I read the 2.0 has less packing so it's smaller and lighter; I doubt that's true. I have the 2.1 TC on two other 300 cc bikes and it's pretty compact; I can't imagine it being any smaller.

Sorry, I can't hear you because the sun is shining in my eyes. There were 3 very fast SX racers here, none of them could go up, they were pushing each other up. The plan was to go up slowly half way, and have a look around and come back. First timer here. But I changed my mind and I went up, too slowly of course. LOL. By the way, people are more curious about beginners than people who just do it. I may have thrown it away on purpose for you to see. :)

It's still quite good, not many people know about it and therefore the trails are in quite good condition. If I take my damn friend Jeff here, he's so big jerk, he'll post the log files in Facebook groups and everyone will be riding here tomorrow as he did in Florida. If I want to enjoy these trails, it's better to keep it a secret where it is. But it's also a good idea to bring people who are really reliable and don't share gps coordinates on the internet. Otherwise, I don't understand why someone would share secret trails that they haven't invested any energy in and never come to help maintain these semi secret places.

@endurowarrior7 ай бұрын
It depends on many things. It's very slippery after rain. On the other hand, how experienced you are and what kind of bike you have. I guess a bigger ADV is not a good choice here. I don't know all the trails, but some of them are very steep, I'd say about a 6 on a scale of 10. I've been on much harder trails than these.

@@randyownby7406 All these single tracks are hidden from the foreign eye. If you're going to ride a bike here, you'd better fasten your trousers. The President of the United States is not as safe as these trails, they even put bushes at the entrance so they make sure you can't find them. If you've never been here before, I guess you'll find the Jeep trails first, and be tortured by the rocky muddy trails, extreme deep ruts, mud, steep hills. If you're lucky it'll be dry. Impossible when wet.There are some trails where you go in and it's impossible to get out because both exits are steep slippery rocky. I usually come here when it hasn't rained for at least a week, which is rare here. If you ask, nobody has heard of the single tracks, not even the bikers, because they don't want to tell you where they are. They like to play dumb if you ask. But, as me, you will find many here if you keep your eyes open. Last year I rode here with a guy who already had a 2024 KTM. The guy was very cocky and said that he was riding with Graham Jarvis and that he had been riding a dirt bike all his life. However, he gave up after 2 minutes when I turned into the first serious trail, which was 15. So he went back to the trail head to sulk. Some people like a challenge, some people just have a big mouth. This place can be very brutal, you'll go much slower than you plan. But look around, give it a go. The single tracks don't officially exist, but if you're lucky you'll find some.

Do you run different tires in the sand than you do in the mountains? Are you running tubes or a mousse?
@endurowarrior8 ай бұрын
It's a good question, thank you for bringing it up. You're not going to believe this, but I've been over the rubber issue for a long time, I'm going with what I've got. I used to always look for the best tire, but I found out it was a waste of money. I know a few people who can only ride IRC MB5 in deep sand. Besides, they just piss off the park rangers by ploughing up the forest. On the other hand, I know a biker who has street tires on his DR650, and he's faster than me. I think any tire is good if you can ride. I ride a worn michelin enduro and I'm happy with it. Of course I use Mousse every time I go off road, I don't like to bother with the inner tube. If you are racing then a good tire choice is very important. If you are a casual rider like me then I think any tire will be just fine. On sand it's better to have less pressure and a knobby tire, not everyone is as extreme as my DRZ650 friend who goes in the woods with street tires. Personally I don't like to leave tracks in the woods, I don't want them(park ranger) to know where I've been, so I don't use aggressive tires. I note that, from a safety point of view, the front tire is better if it's low pressure, wide and knobby, because it easy to lose the front end on sand. The only time I pay attention to the tires is when I go hard enduro riding, or on the race track with a sport bike. What you had on your bike will be fine, come anytime, I will ride every weekend in the winter. I know that many people will not like this post, and they think I am mean. But the forest is not an MX track, people go there to relax, hike, horse riding, hunting etc. Those who want to enjoy nature do not look kindly on our kind. But to answer your question, a very low pressure tire with an aggressive knobs is the very best in deep sand. Paddle tire is no needed here yet. And yes, I often use the medium michelin enduro tires in the mountains, the last time I was with you I was also using them. A lot of people don't like it, I like it because it's street approved, and not too bad on pavement.

It is. Unfortunately, there are no access trail here. I didn't really know where I was. I didn't know where I was going. Where I put the KTM down, there's a big climb. According to the 3D map, you have to climb from 650 feet to 1,000 feet in a short distance. It's unspeakably steep, which you can't see on the video. But I can't wait to get back here and mark out the section.

Whats your tire pressure ? At that speed I would run about 8 psi in the rear tubeless
@endurowarrior11 ай бұрын
I can't remember the last time I used an inner tube or tubliss. Maybe 10 years ago in a forest in Florida, the valve broke off from crossing so many streams. I don't know how much PSI is in my rear tire, it looks very soft. I run only Mousse front and rear. It varies, when it's this kind of mousse and when it's that kind of mousse. When which is cheaper or available for my tire. Air tires are not very safe in such extremely hard places.

@@GrayRidesEnduro I hadn't used it for a long time, first time on this bike, and all the hard enduro style was starting to give me a stiff wrist, and then one day a drunk kid hit me with a 4-passenger razor, and something in my wrist got busted. Since then I've been using an automatic clutch but my wrist still hurts like hell by the end of the day, and then it hurts for days after every ride. I can't even use impact wrench since the incident because the stupid drunk kid ran me over without braking and there were 4 of them in the razor. I was seen by a doctor, but they found nothing, just rough bruising and that maybe one day my wrist will recover or I'll get used to the pain. I'm not a doctor, some joint or ligament whatever is torn or those tiny bones in the wrist are crushed. I used to use the clutch on the harder sections, but not on the straighter lines. At low revs it is very soft, it doesn't start like a factory clutch. I think that's why I lose a lot of torque at low range. Now I want to put another spring in it to see if the low end will be better.

Moab is worth a visit on a motorbike, there are so many interesting sights from easy to hard. The weather is variable, very hot, very cold or very windy. Several times we had sandstorms or very cold nights. Camping outdoors is not the best if you are not prepared, we had some of that, I didn't sleep at all it was so cold. Luckily it is hot at 10am. But it freezes at 3am sharp.
