Can these boards corner sharp turns? Asking for a friend, my wife will kill me if I buy another board 😂
@melonenkacke
@melonenkacke 7 күн бұрын
Hahhaha🤣 it depends on how you setup the board!! Usually torsion tail setups are more difficult for tight turns. I have customers that can do a u turn on a road with it, but mostly it’s made to go more straight. The MelonenKacke Drop 2 is a Great board for tight turns!! It has a short wheelbase and allows for a steering rear truck! I use it to get through the city slaloming around people.

Just found your video from skate horizons, im kinda in the crawling stages of ldp and im ready to bring it up the next level. The thing holding me back right now is having confidence that my set up will not be ruined in the rain. Im on a loaded fathom right now with bear trucks 90mm wheels of various brands also using Powell creamic bearings. Should i keep pushing what i have or do some changes to be able to push thrugh the winter. Im up to 60 miles in single pushes and loose some of it during the winter months where i dont get out often. My goal is 100 miles in a single day

@@sonnyrico good question! I have no experience with the loaded fathom but i think they have a waterproof coating. So I expect the board to be fine skating through wet weather. The truck and wheels should be fine. I use cheap bearing in winter so they are easy to replace. The trucks pivot tends to wear down quicker in winter.

Can these be used for downhill and freeride?
@melonenkacke
@melonenkacke 2 ай бұрын
@@blockmanfries5637 I’m not a DH free ride expert. From my perspective you can so or so. Without the distance spacers it behaves just like a normal truck. You will have the advantage of durability. Kore bushings can be added instead of the spherical in the hanger. The distance spacers might be intresting for this but I am not sure!

Was soll man den genau instandhalten ?
@melonenkacke
@melonenkacke 2 ай бұрын

"The spherical bushing creates a notch on the kingpin" possible, but looking at broken poppy pictures, they seem to break under the boardside bushing where the kingpin enters the baseplate. Also would make sense, because thats the only part (the baseplate) which does not give in.
@melonenkacke
@melonenkacke 6 ай бұрын
I’ve seen both! Either way the MK Space truck will reduce both ways of failure. As the outer ring will also press the kingpin sideways. This can also cause the Kingpin to break at the baseplate.
@thebarking
@thebarking 6 ай бұрын
@@melonenkacke Makes sense, cause the force is directly transmitted to the kingpin when the outer ring touches. I personally never had the "fun", but also don't want the experience :D

Some people don’t share good advice. If you look at the top distance skaters they all push with the front foot. It’s easier aswell btw, because you don’t have to bend your knees so much to reach the ground with the heel of the foot.

Yes absolutely! You will definitely get more rebound compared to the poppy. I’ve been using the poppy for many years myself and always had to actively pump back and forth with my own power. The 4mm distance spacer Option safes a lot of energy and makes pumping more efficient and faster.

Marwin used here the MelonenKacke Procyon with a TTX , SDF and bhanger. The long length and fitting flex of the Procyon in combination with that torsion tail increases the stability while pushing. But you can push with both feet on all boards. On some it’s easier then on others
