Just purchased one of these with a Digitrax decoder already installed - and that lighting is a non-starter for me. The raw light from the board seems fine, but that maze of piping is simply not doing the job. Prototypical lighting is a thing with me, so I've started using fiber optics with individual SMD LEDs for the various lighting locations, and it works quite well. Already went that route with my N scale VIA Rail LRC locomotive (Shapeways shell, Atlas chassis) which had ZERO room to spare, but it worked. This locomotive seems to have a lot more room to spare in there, so that's the plan. By the way, this is a superb tutorial - clear, straightforward and easy to follow. Thank you!

I did exactly what you have told in the video, but the locomotives keep derailing. I have the same Kato Unitrack and the same type of rolling stock. All my locomotives are from Kato and have Micro-trains couplers. 53ft container cars can’t stay on the track. I put new bogies/cars from Micro-trains, because these are the best so they say, but still can’t get around a wide turn. The new track is flat like a mirror and clean. I have 2 locomotives that can ride for hours with no errors, without pulling cars. And 2 new locomotives are tumbling over, not only derailing but falling off, after a 50 centimeter ride, never on the same spot. It’s very frustrating. Can anyone give me some tips?

Shwmae Ben - nice livery on that one there - no fans on the top? Interesting... I spose its the big vents on the side behind the cab. Lovely details on the ends. Much better than my old blue box Athearn HO locos! I've had some odd things happening on my Lokpilot chips coded for my Accurascale UK diesels but I'll have a word with the guys at the club who know about these things...

Tony at N scale american trains always has a decent selection. But lately there's been a load on ebay and rails of sheffield have had a good few in too.

Another great collection selection, but I really dug the UP Rio Grande, and all the P42s. The CN 44s were also very sharp! It's all good, but some really catch my eye, including the big Steamer at the end.

I think sound in N gauge has come a long way for sure. The speakers available now in such a small size and all the cv's you can change to suit each sound really do make the overall sounds good. Ben.
