E36 is the best 3 series. E46 and E90 are great too. F30 was the step too far when it comes to size.

@GruszkuEntertainment9 жыл бұрын
Boz 2011 I'm talking about how clean the engine is, not the car, obviously. You have the compact version as I imagine from the "ti" designation. Pretty nice automobile, I've almost bought a 1997 318is sedan, a beatiful machine - but ended up with the E46 instead.
@Boz12111118 жыл бұрын
GruszkuEntertainment Yeah, i was talking about the engine in the first place but yesterday i looked better and i saw that its clean at the top, but the lower parts are prety dirty.. luckily they are not really visible :P And yeah... My wish for a next car is e46 coupe... so nice car you have :) Is it diesel or petrol?
@GruszkuEntertainment8 жыл бұрын
Boz 2011 Petrol, I was afraid about the diesel engines' reliability.
@Boz12111118 жыл бұрын
I dont like either sound or smell of diesel engines :P Only interested in a car with a petrol engine for the future... We agreed as it seems. :) Maybe im stubborn because diesel engines are getting better over time... I will do some test drives with newer engines and then i will be allowed to judge.

Leonard Nedosekov Are you Russian? I don't like the 323 - it has no sense, 2,5 liter 6-cyl, it's better to buy the 328 2,8 liter, only 0,3 liters bigger but more "vroom vroom". Personally I like the 4-cylinders as they are better in daily driving than the sixes, and it's already too easy to lose your license with the 4-cyl, I don't want to take a bigger risk...

Still love the looks of those E36's when they're not riced out. But the accident safety statistics here in Sweden were documented to be 20-40% worse than the average car at the time.

even for todays standards those cars aren that bad... too bad they all start to rust away, but the engines (m43) are very reliable. The e36-4 316i needs 8 liters of petrol per 100km, and can drive 200km/h. In my opinion very good values for a mid-class car with the smallest engine from 1991/92. Only one very big problem in the e36: electronic problems at the "display" (sorry, i dont know the english word for Instrumentenmkombi), while driving, all "things that display values" (petrol, temperature, speed, rpm of the engine) just stop to work, and start to work again in very different times (1 second to a few minutes). That is a well known issue in the e36-series.
@GruszkuEntertainment9 жыл бұрын
Messerschmitt262a2a This one is the M40B18 motor featuring a belt-driven camshaft. After 1993-1994 they were replaced by chain-driven M43B16 and M43B18. A belt driven M40B16 is slow as fuck, with its 99HP and rear wheel drive only about 80HP goes to the wheels, and with the 1300 kg body, it just barely moves along.
@CorporateJetpilot9 жыл бұрын
Messerschmitt262a2a I had a 1994 318i here in the US. Had well over 400,000 miles. Failed smog last year and sold it. Most solid car i have driven. Only changed clutch once and was a agressive driver. Now have the E46 330XI. Biggest night mare ive ever encountered.
@GruszkuEntertainment9 жыл бұрын
***** It was technically not a BMW 318i, but a BMW 318is only marketed as 318i. Had the more powerful M42B18 engine with 140 HP, instead of the regular M43B18 with 115 HP, deemed too weak along with the base 316i M43B16 to be imported to USA. Here in Europe, 318 is sedans are very rare.

People saying it's a boring car have never driven one. I own a straight six 325i and it puts a big smile on my face every time I drive it. The suspension, handling, and torque it has, are enough to give you a thrill. It eats up corners.

@GruszkuEntertainment9 жыл бұрын
analanalyst E36 Coupes are actually heavier than sedans. The "is" M42B18 pre-facelfit motor has nearly 140HP, whereas the "sechs zylinder" 2-liter has 150HP, but being heavier and less free-revving, it's slower than the "is" models.

@charlieward76069 жыл бұрын
+DanK.98 no the 323i 325i and 328i are faster than the 318is. 318is just about beats the 320i apparently but its debatable. i would personally say the 318is is a better car to go for than the 320i. lighter, cheaper maintenance, more collectable, possibly better fuel economy if u drive slow. there is obviously advantages to the 320i tho, smoother, more reliable from what ive heard, better sound, more torque down low, 6 cylinders so possibly easier to get power out of... im trying to buy a 318is at the moment tho

The m43 engine is perhaps one the best 4sylinders, that has ever been created. I had a 95' e36 for 6 years, bought it in 2006. Yes after a while there was corrosion, there was problem with electric components (instrument cluster failed, replaced the instrument panel with a 97 mod manufactured by bosh) - but it never failed in getting you from a to b with a huge smile!

sounds nice, actually i like 3-series bmw which look a bit more exclusive than others. i mentioned those guys who make a 316i or 318i looking like a m3 allthough everyone who´s familar with those cars will recognize that something is wrong. Especially if you put a m3 badge and aftermarket shit on it :-D well the only things my 323ti has is a m steering wheel, but no badges, rims, exaust system or anything else. it´s the e36 compact, everyone should know that it was never released as m3 compact^^
