Suggs, or Robbie Williams didn't do dury justice by any stretch of my imagination! They both murdered both songs! So sad considering the gravity of singing for him. 😭

Why didn't they use Pete Doherty to sing sex and drugs and rock n roll??? Suggs was bloody awful!

I mean obviously it was no Dury, but personally, I think he did a fine job

Saw Madness at Bridlington Spa Pavilion in 1980 supported by the Belle Stars. First song was the sound of a deafening hooter.....Night Boat to Cairo! Bless you Graham (Suggs), Lee, Carl, Mike, Chris, Mark and Dan 🙏

You plough the streets throughout the day Growling and a skulking bout your state of grace Your head held high Tail to the sky We cop a deafen at what you have to say Cock of the walk from Leicester Square Off Waterloo, Pall Mall to the east of Mayfair Whatever you’re selling I’ve already paid So stop raining on my parade Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobody hears you Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobodies listening Breach St. James after dark Howling and a wailing but silent you bark You think your shit don’t stink We all have our traits One whiff of failure and you’re through the gates Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobodies listening Everybody here to meet the man Everybody here to offer their hand Lay back on the couch I’m a little surprised After all we are naked we have nothing to hide you prowl the street throughout the day Growling and a skulking bout your state of grace With your head held high Tail to the sky We cop a deafen at what you have to say Like running up an endless hill You catch your breath but you can’t keep still For the treat is at the top Just a stones throw away Be-Bop-a-Lula Every dog has it’s day Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobody hears you Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobodies listening Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobody hears you Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobodies listening Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobody hears you Oh crying Oh crying Oh but nobodies listening

I need an explanation right now Just who in hell it is you think you are??? Launching my wife from here to kingdom come You might think it none of my business So from today I am making it mine And as sure as God is my witness I’ll be the man that plans the perfect crime Oh I’ll confess to it Show me the scene Take me away from this crazy Do I make myself quiet clear Should you ever, ever lay a finger you might find you’ve tempted fate, too late Seems I’ve got to be cruel to be kind I’ll confess to it Show me the scene Just take me away from this nightmare Why did you let him do the things you done to me This love is so blind Too strange an affair to believe I guess you are my obsession And though you no longer need me I couldn’t allow this moment to pass us by Oh I got seized by a disease I’m down on my knees Ignoring your pleas Some murderous inclination Took control of my imagination Oh she’s admitted it She’s come clean washed her hands of this crazy Why did you let him do the things you done to me This love is so blind Too strange an affair to believe Why did you let him do the things you done to me This love is so blind Too strange an affair to believe Why did you let him do the things you done to me This love is so blind Too strange an affair to believe Why did you let him do the things you done to me This love is so blind Too strange an affair to believe

I just came across this by chance on KZbin and loved every second of it. I must have missed it when it was shown back in 2000. Suggs and the rest of the band are such likeable characters. I’ve followed Madness since 1979 when I was 15 years old, and I’m pleased to say that I’ve now seen them perform live twice - once in 2012 in Liverpool, and again at the same venue in December 2023. When I was in my teens, I never dreamt that I would actually be watching them perform live in my 60th year. Well done Madness.

It’s funny how individually the members of madness are shy and reserved when they are one on one but when they are all together their energy is electric and bold. Just goes to show you the groups has chemistry 😊❤
