I love this. Love the piece a lot. And your presentation of the "radiantly joyful climax" as being an "unbridled celebration of the human spirit" is so elegant. And you played it so PERFECTLY. This whole video is a gem. Thanks!

Great qualities. Unfortunately too much cuts between the phrases. There is not natural flow of the music. The forte are too hard, needs better control of the sound. Need to work again and again, like all of us...

I thought all the things you criticized are what make it feel so fresh and alive, as I haven't felt with many interpretations. Who's do you prefer?

Most underrated Chopin's Work! Undoubtedly!

Right. This beats any of the scherzi, rondos, Polonaises as well as the sonatas except the opus 58. And by a large margin too. Only the piano concertos are better IMHO.

Dear Mr. Ganz, This is a really fantastic interpretation and incredibly impressive live performance of this quite rare, difficult, and oft overlooked work by Chopin - even better than Ashkenazy’s, in my opinion. Thank you for recording and preserving this rare music of Chopin; it’s important work and I’m glad we have pianists as capable and knowledgeable as you to perform Chopin’s lesser known works :)

That’s just the way Mr. Ganz performs. He’s very emotionally involved with Chopin’s music, and can’t help but show his affection/excitement for the music when he plays. I think it’s great!
@classicallpvault82512 жыл бұрын
Alfred Cortot never recorded this Scherzo... and if he had, your recording would probably have been my 2nd favourite. Hats off, Mr. Ganz, this is awesome!

Performers before the 1900s were far freer than today- adding arpeggiations when not written, wild rubato and tempo modification, improvising ornaments, changing and swinging rhythms. More so in Mozarts day. You think this is too free? Listen to Reinecke playing Mozart. Born in the 1820s. Wild. Historically authentic.
