Notice how the narration in the video is detailed enough to help the blind to comprehend wat's going on.

I cannot find the long version of this video, which I know is excellent. Any idea how I get the link for that?

There are 3 types of surgery for detached retina. The one I had was done in the office. A few days of positioning and a few days of lazer. It was painful

Thank you so much for this video. My son was diagnosed with RP two years ago near his 18th birthday. It can be so difficult watching your child go blind knowing there is nothing you can do. My friends and family have no idea how to support us and I have seen the backs of many people as they walk away as they do not understand. I know that I am not always going to be here and my main goal is to allow my son to be as independent as possible even though my fear can grip me at times. LIFE GOES ON and I only hope he finds love and connectedness that you both share.

I went in yo optometrist immediately upon first symptoms. I was cleared twice! Tear led to detachment because of delayed care. I've heard many stories like mine. Why aren't optometrist held responsible for misdiagnosis? Why is this acceptable?

Hello. I have lattice degeneration in both yes. Before one and half year, I had PVD in my left eye, which resulted in three retinal tears and retinal detachment. Symptoms were some floaters and many light flashes. This has been threatened via vitrectomy, so the vitreous has been removed and the gas bubble put in the eye for 3 weeks + scleral buckling. The result is fine I have full vision (some negative -1,5 dioptrie becasue of scleral buckle) but in general OK. What is scaring me, that even after one and half year I still experience occasional light flashes in my eye. I have regular examination by my doctor and the checks are OK. No new tear and the retina is laying as it should. My question is, how it is possible that I still experience light flashes after 18 months even the vitrios has been removed??? In my right eye, I also have multiple lattice degeneration, but this has been threatened via laser. This laser cause also PVD, but the laser saved the retina before detachment. I had also light flashes in my right eye after this laser for 6 months, but after the vitrious fully detached from retina it stopped. Thank you

this reminds me how stores in old cartoons have items that have no labels
@nisqhog2881
@nisqhog2881 7 ай бұрын
Growing up, I've always had to read labels for my mom who is almost blind, so I know precisely what this sort of experience is like. I've grown used to looking at just the shape and color of items at stores too, just because it was easier to explain to my mom what is what, so whenever there's multiple items of the same type with very similar packaging next to each other, it's easy to get confused. The big offenders are dairy products and grains when one goes shopping for ingredients: normal and whole grain flour often look identical except for the text on them, and a lot of milk cartons and butter products look the same, even if they have a different taste/ingredient/preservation method. That's without going into length about not being able to easily access information like expiration date, or check if even fruits and vegetables have obvious damage on them before buying.

I'm about 7 years late to the party here, but I want to say how lovely Bee is and how much I'm rooting for her! At 46 now, I look back at when my amazing grandmother was going through macular degeneration and at some point she began to comment occasionally about strange things she'd seen. Although we all knew about her vision loss and she was being treated for it, none of us were told to expect the chance of Charles Bonnet syndrome and so none of us were sure what to make of my grandmother's visions. I so wish we could have been more of a support in that area and that our doctor had known to prepare and offer support to her! What a shame. She got on with everything, but it saddens me to think that she bore this challenge essentially alone even among the company of family. Thank you for the work you do and for sharing Bee with us! xo

We need to install loudspeakers on every product in every store worldwide. They will ceaselessly blare out the nutrition facts of the products. For Blind and deaf people they will have a feature which engraves the information directly on the cornea with a small needle. It's the only way to be equal. I'm sorry.

My step daughter is visually impared; she's recently gone to university and we've brought her a Miele Guideline for her flat. If it aids her independance then the cost is more than worth it to us, plus if it is half as reliable as the Miele appliances we have, then it will last. A solid investment and a really progressive move from them.
