Saw it performed just last night. Couldn’t help wondering whether the audience’s rapturous reception would have been the same had it been performed by young people with guitars…

I've heard the recorded version many times, and love seeing it performed live.

The love of my life took me to one of Glass' concerts, and I cried during the pieces that he played. Magnificent music! Ya either love it or hate it.

La musica minimalista e' la mia musica. Purtroppo mi coinvolge troppo e allora mi viene da piangere dalla gioia. Per un uomo di 70 anni non so se e' decente ma e' così

40 years on, and it still scratches an itch no one else can. Probably the one true genius out of the "minimalist" crowd of the 70s-80s. (yes, among other truly excellent composers imho) His stuff just freakin' works.

The atmosphere, the flow of human voice which doesn't insist on drawing words from any particular language, the sounds, the noises, the flow in shape of free energy passing through, the underlying melodies... One can find themselves looking up and being surrounded by all that chaotic energy from the universe represented in this piece. One can scream everything they wanted, every emotion, every frustration, every spark of joy into all that energy and it would accept it in its everlasting, overwhelming power and beauty.

I've listened to this many times before now, but somehow to see it performed live seems almost supernatural.

Absolutely. Genius is a balance work and usage of everything we could find in ourselves to achieve extraordinariness. This is seems like that team work, but in external.
