My grandmother, granddads 2nd wife, was from Edinburgh. I visited Scotland for the first time this past May. The music of the pipes has always stirred something in my heart and given me a lump in my throat. This reminds me of my late grandmother. Well done!

He conducts the whole thing, yes. We call that the pipe major. He is the leader of the band - calling the tunes and setting the tempo.

Unfortunately, the SFU Pipe Band organization doesn't provide mature beginner instruction but there are two pipe bands in Metro Vancouver that do: Cedar Hills Caledonian Pipe Band (North Surrey) facebook.com/CHCPB/ J.P.
