berserk is so good... this scene is good, but is out of context. with the context is a masterpiece. guts is leaving because he thinks he needs to in order to be able to call griffith a friend, griffith doesnt know that and thinks guts actually doesnt want to be near him. then there is also the fact tha guts like casca, but thinks casca likes grifith too much, casca on the other hand likes both griffith and guts but on the one hand cant imagine herself being with grifftih and on the other her bad start with guts makes her resistant to the idea of liking him. then guts leaves thinking that is not a big deal for griffith to lose him, and wanting to be better so that griffith actually becomes his friend, not knowing that he is actually griffiths only friend if anything, and him leaving is going to destroy him in a way that is actually break him. again, such a good story... what happens here is a misunderstanding between two very good friends, and that misunderstanding makes them the worst enemies of each other forever, and they dont even know it was a misunderstanding

I really like the moment where Griffith after a year of Hatred of his Best Friend in what might as well be Hell, Still Managed to Hold on to the miniscule glimpse of Affection when He sees that Guts(Who only discovered his Mistake in not Communicating better just a few moments ago) Was genuinely Devasted and Heartbroken by Seeing his friend as broken as he became,just pulls back,and just Rests his hand on Gut’s arm and he resigns to the forst warmth he recieved in months. griffith Might’ve done everything wrong after this and Guts isn’t Blameless. But its sad seeing that It was still At a point where they could’ve fixed this whole mess. Not to go back to what it was(it would be impossible) but to Grow a little Better simce last time.

I finally understand why Griffith challenged Guts to that duel. Griffith might have been really angry about Guts’ ingratitude for throwing away titles and money, especially considering how Guts was a mess when Griffith brought him into the band. So, it could have just been an insult to his pride. But I think the truth is that Griffith probably always had the brains to get everything he wanted, but he might not have seen the point in reaching the top so quickly, because it still seemed a bit empty to him. I believe that Guts, being the only one Griffith truly respected, inspired him in a way no one else could, helping Griffith reach his full potential. Griffith might have felt that losing someone who could keep his existential overthinking in check would mean the end of his dream when he was so close. Maybe that’s why he wanted to enter into a suicidal pact with Guts in that duel.

These are normal humans fighting demons and he went down swinging. respect.
