Hmmm, circa 1986 or 1987 CE that would put me at 3 to 4 years of age; it is quite interesting to see some of the old point and click titles that I sadly missed out on because I was either too young or because my family and I did not own an Amiga or Commodore 64 home console.

The story for this sub-game is pretty interesting and touching. In case you can't read it, here are rough translations of the game's cutscenes with associated timestamps: 0:28 Narrator: "Human, the bastard child of Mother Nature, has once again arrived to spoil our environment. Machines of disaster and pollutions are being dumped into the waters of Lake Saimaa, accompanied by maniacal laughter." Nestori: "Goddammit! I'm done with this! I must seek out the old and wise Pullervo. He might be able to help me stop the human." 2:58 Nestori: "Pullervo, help us! The human is back to wreck the nature, and we all will die if we don't do anything about it!" Pullervo: "At last, the day has come when we have to fight the human to preserve the delicate balance of nature. Nestori, you have the will and the strength to enter this battle, for the ringed seals, and for our whole ecosystem. Take this laser weapon with you! It will prove useful in the elimination of the human!" Nestori: "Thank you, Pullervo! The human's days are finally numbered!" 14:44 Nestori: "Holy herring! This must be alien technology! The human has brought assistance to nature obliteration from outer space! This is even more serious than I could've ever imagined." 18:56 Narrator: "The human has finally been stopped, and peace falls over Lake Saimaa as the "machines of disaster" shut off one by one. Saimaa ringed seals have gathered together to celebrate their hero Nestori, who braved all the dangers and defeated the human. Lake Saimaa is saved! Thank you for playing!"

Did you know that the Saimaa ringed seal is an endemic species, which means that it only lives in one place in the world, which is Lake Saimaa in Finland. There are also two other freshwater seal species that only live in two specific lakes: the Ladoga ringed seal in Lake Ladoga, Russia and the Baikal seal in Lake Baikal, Siberia.🦭🏞

Cinemaware released so many great games for the Commodore 64 and Amiga. DEFENDER OF THE CROWN is still number 1 on the Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️.

I doubt I would have played this much even back in the 80's. Motor Mania and Burnin' Rubber seem better than this.

"Cycle exact" 68060 emulation is quite CPU intensive, so it'll be slower than real hardware unless you have a really beefy PC. For emulation I recommend going with Fastest possible for the best experience.

First time playing it? I played it when it was originally released. The board game too. Space Hulk video game was good alsom if you have not played that. The original one for that too not the newer one.

Nope, played it a lot back in the day when it came out. Never had the board game though, it was sold out around here and these days it's waaaay too expensive to buy second hand. Space Hulk was and is a great game but devilishly hard.

It still holds up! It's often frustrating (when your guys have done the mission, killed the dreadnought, are almost at the docking claw, about to get away... and then the CPU throws a soulsucker next to your commander that just kills him, making the whole thing all for nought) but it's fun to play. And I bet even more fun if you get 2 friends along and go at it with all 3 squads :)
