Jacksons are among the most comfortable and smooth guitars, in terms of feel under the fingers. The neck, action, and string spacing just feel right across the board. I’d be happy with a Dinky

because they didn't sell out and change their sound like some who load and reload garbage. Maiden are musical geniuses being able to do sooo much with similar progressions but somehow keep them fresh and interesting for so many albums. They became so much better after they became a 6 piece. A matter of life and death is perfection and senjutsu has given us the exceptional songs like The Parchment, Hell on Earth and the Live banger Time Machine. UP THE IRONS 🤘

French is also recognized as a "romantic" or "intimate" language. I'd assume that aspect of the language adds a bit to the weight and impact of the chorus as, like said previously, it makes the chorus seem more "intimate"

I grew up with these bands. Heard Puppets when I was 12 and it blew me away. Then I discovered Megadeth a year later with Rust. When Load came out, it was the first time I could afford to buy my own CD. Saw the cover release and went “wtf is this?”. Went home, popped the CD in and went “wtf is this…?” After St. Anger I wrote them off. For me 83’-91’ Metallica was their era. Megadeth era is arguably 86’-97’ but damn if Dave doesn’t come out of nowhere with something and surprise you. Sick Dying and Dead was a fantastic follow to Dystopia. All hail Megadeth.

I didn't expect anything good from big media outlet,. But this initial list is also laughable. It's so painfully basisc... Bands here are either most obviously popular, entry level stuff (I am not saying that Priest, Maiden, Black Sabbath or Motörhead aren't great, but there are so many greater pick in 70's and 80's underground, that this is sad), overrated (Metallica have stopped playing good music after black album and Mayhem is the weakest second wave pioneers, Darkthrone, Burzum, Immortal or virtually any classic greek band from 90's are far superior) or utter shit (Slipknot/Korn are so bad, that i preffer literally any glam slop over them). And it's not insane, to ignore metal/detah-core. It's really only sane choice, since these two are inherently bad and aren't even metal.

This video is super nerdy and super awesome. Unforgiven 3 is definitely my favorite of the trilogy, but I still love this one. I've been listening to this song since I was a kid, and I've never noticed that keyboard synth. I guess I always assumed it was a guitar. Is it possible it's a real stringed orchestra instrument? They had real orchestra on Nothing Else Matters, maybe on Unforgiven also? I'm probably wrong. You obviously know way more about the song than me.

When people say that Lars sucks, I ask them how many albums their band has sold. Sure you can find drummers in big bands that don't like how Lars plays, but are any of them bigger than Metallica? Then there the 99.999% of people who say Lars sucks who have never even so much as sat behind even the cheapest of drum kits. Their opinion is pointless and irrelevant.

I think debate here should not be whether they use the same progression over and over again or not but it's more about if that specific chord progression and the elements surrounding it attracts the listener or not. Iron Maiden(and NWOBHM in general) always sounded too glorious, heroic and fun for me as I've always chosen darker themed songs and bands in the thrash and death metal domain. This is music and everyone has different tastes. That's why we are fans of different bands and some of these bands have less impact on us than some others. That's quite normal. EDIT: I forgot to mention that overall guitar, drums and vocal style and sound of course play a big role here. I can't imagine Pantera playing their songs with Iron Maiden's guitar or drums tones or Chuck Schuldiner of Death singing his lyrics in James Hetfield's style on his songs. It's the overall sound, arrangement and tone that attracts our attention first when we hear a band for the first time.

Was pleased to see Carcass listed - personally would put them higher though, I feel their influence on future acts is highly understated. Kyuss - love them, never considered them metal. Stoner Rock, absolutely. Would rank In Flames over ATG. I would also include Fear Factory as a band that influenced many other bands to come.

I just remember hearing this song in probably early 00s as a kid along with other singles from the Black Album and having this feeling like it was just this timeless music that everyone knew. I don't know how to explain what I'm trying to say about the music from that album (ESPECIALLY The Unforgiven) but truly what Bob bought to it made it just unbelievably incredible music with everything he added to enhance what was already amazing songwriting.
