The Electricity Act serves as a good starting point. As Dafe said, the main issue is actually implementation. My question will be, is there certainty that the populace is willing to pay for off-grid power solutions considering the charges will be higher? Beside, this will be a long-term investment that will be influenced by the government that gets into power.

Shouldn't 12,000 buses be employing 25,000 to 30,000 jobs, instead of a mere 5000? At least 2 drivers should take turns in running a bus through the day, that would be 24,000 jobs already! The remaining 5000 could be a mixture of maintenance teams and office administrative staff at the depot!

American ExxonMobil and British ShellBP has defiled the earth, its atmosphere, nature and wildlife. The white man has taught the Arabians to refine oil as well as Blacks in Africa and now Africa and Arabia has become committed to greed. ShellBP caused oil disasters in Nigeria, ocean etc. Now why is she talking about oil quotas! Mankind is greedy, cruel and callous and nature has suffered! How to fight back? The earth has many weapons ...blame no-one natural events. So Africa, listen to Eleni and massive growth, massive growth!

Admittedly, renewable energy is a very good alternative that has more advantages than disadvantages. But what's the point of going into debt or making big investments on this when we can draw on our hydrocarbons available on site, free and abundant, if only for the time to readjust our electrification rate to around 80%? If Europe barely manages to make renewables its main source of production (24% against 22% of nuclear), Pacific Asia is betting on coal, South and Central America on hydroelectricity, Africa, North America and the Middle East on natural gas. Each region of the world builds its energy mix according to the resources it has. It is in fact about choosing the easiest way to solve an urgent problem, in the shortest possible time.

I don't think there is anything wrong with teaching girls to act in accordance with their gender, because girls do need to work with their bodies and girls do act differently from boys. My daughter was naturally more careful, more vocal and better at communicating than my son and I didn't do anything to encourage that. There are inherent differences between boys and girls and we need to love and accept that, it does not make us less equal. It's just who we are. Like Mr Hamza said, let women be women.
@jovitaeromosele
@jovitaeromosele 2 жыл бұрын
Women want equity, not equality. Why do I say so? It's because women already are created equal. We are equal already, so let's not fight for something that is ours already. If men think they are superior, they are wrong and that's a fact. They need to correct themselves, not women trying to become equal, no, because God created us equal already. Men need to understand that. Equity, caters to the differences that exist between men and women, it refers to accommodating these differences so that everybody is able to live freely and accomplish their goals. As women need a day or two off each month for health purposes but men don't, equity will be structuring leave days for women such that they can take that time off, instead of taking leave all at once in the year.

Brain drain is very correct because back home we have got insufficient educated people due to the governments reluctance to boost the education system. Yes we got talent, but talent alone ain't enough, education is still needed. That is the unfortunate truth. I am very against this art of "greener pastures" but the system has made this inevitable and now a lot of people are abusing it. Because truly no matter how bad the government is, it is us the people that put in and remove from the government. We should be owning and correcting the problems no matter the size or amount of bullets that fly. Running away ain't the option really but that is the reality, not everyone has the mind or resources to go revolution.

Here's my take, if you are ambitious, educated and hardworking, Africa is NOT the place for you. The continent has ridiculously low wages which are just enough to survive on before the next pay check. Cost of living and inflation are high, the quality of life is 100yrs back compared to the West. You may talk about patriotism yada yada yada...it's akin to staying in an abusive marriage and told to endure the pain and hurt. If you're African and have lived abroad before, settling back here is depressing. So to secure your future, continue working hard and look for opportunities abroad.
@richardobiekwe9437
@richardobiekwe9437 2 жыл бұрын
Are you not the owner of the continent of Africa? I understand we don't want to starve or run into spraying bullets, but ultimately we the people must own it all and as such must correct it because the people you are running to would see you as the problem of your country because your government is the product of you. And truly, we got human/natural resources, viable land, cleaner atmosphere, brilliant topography all in abundance compared to these countries we are running too. I know they say a lot of crap about our land and topography and how development is hard, all kinds of nonsense but this is the fact, we are indirectly scamming ourselves by running because we have greater wealth than they have untapped. We should be harnessing these things and creating value for ourselves out of this huge mass of potential rather than looking for someone else's to collect value.

State government Federal Government can not let us get out of the insecurity where the traditional ruler are not involve in the sense that local and state government are taking charge of the affairs of the traditional rulers .if they allow the way it use to be the traditional ruler know much about the community and know how to address any issues that new to cause problem at once but since Political system now that the state and local government taking charge baring chief out and Oba electing there own person there won't be peace again until we allow the tradition ruler to take charge they can now cascade to the local and state government when and how the government can play there own rolls if not you can trace the genesis of the rout cause of insecurity. We need the traditional ruler to able to handle issue first not the federal of state and local government we have the rout cause from the community before it escalate

My contribution her refers to Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede Education most vocational education is so important in our Country to increase the development of the country and nation we classify as third world country today look as China,Korea,etc all focus on Vocational education that boost the industries today most of us that are technically incline to add value to the nation no industries all that is going on the country is to buy and sales how do we think the country will be better to the extent they disregard the technology aspect to the extent now every body is Bsc degree with out good technical practice really my self here can develop[ an Engine i can work sublimation of crude extraction but those knowledge are dead since government are not promoting and support while i will be thinking how do i feed and also feed the family if government have support let us be in the workshop lab we will bring out some thing to raise the economy of the country both in Agricultural and other area of Engineering that built the number one in any country. Not buying and selling when can we address this issues to meet up other third world country that are growing

I have a question, the panelists seem to suggest that 'brain drain' is a term that exaggerates (negatively) the effects of either skilled Africans permanently leaving home countries or Africans leaving, gaining skills and then deciding to stay and serve in wherever they find themselves (I'm pretty sure most of the time that's the case, that an African will stay abroad rather than return to their home countries, I'm open to correction). In my mind it seems they're saying that; "people who say 'brain drain' are making the situation /phenomenon seem way way worse than it actually is" but what is their take on the undeniable fact that Africans experience difficulties due to lack of skills? For example seeking medical attention in other countries because of a lack of specialists (and yes equipment and yes that part's a govt failure, but) in their localities? In my country It is commonplace to go to at least south africa and at most India for some major surgery needs. The Nigerian president himself goes to Europe for medical care, two of zambia's presidents died in European hospitals, Robert mugabe died in Singapore, we could go on. Zambia asked a foreign company (lazard frare, sorry if I've misspelled) to help it restructure its debt, is that an indication that there is a lack of skills locally in the for of organisations or individuals to lend a helping hand to the govt? How about the constant (felt) need to hire foreign contractors to fulfil construction projects like the roads and railways in the continent? I know there are African companies but there are still many many more Chinese, Indian or western companies making our roads, bridges etc and yes we do have local contractors in our countries (maybe some down even have idk) but given we do have local contractors, why the need to look to others to do our local projects? Aren't these signals of lack of skills? Which indeed people do learn when they study engineering in Canada or software in california or business in Manchester. Just my thoughts...
