Do you feel like previous experience with anything helped you eyeball the shapes better for you? And why did you get into whittling tiki heads? (It looks cool, especially if you end up having lots lol)
@northwestcarving52962 ай бұрын
I used to carve a lot of wood spirits which helped me create symmetry in my carvings and over time I was able to eyeball the shapes. After a while I got bored of the same old carvings and decided to push myself and do new carving expressions like this one. Which is the reason why I got into carving tiki heads is because I have always liked the look of them especially the exaggerated facial expressions.

That’s awesome dude show us the whole finished piece when you’re done I’m sure your dad is really going to appreciate your work! Also you should look into some different nib tips for curved lines, I’m pretty sure they’re called “ball-point” nibs like the same as the pen. But I used them in a Highschool class and it really made curves and the like really smooth and cleaner looking than other nibs. I only had the class for a few weeks so if I’m wrong or uninformed my bad.

Of you are skipping the ER, you need to get some wound closure strips (not butterfly style). With the cut being on your knuckle, it will need to be kept straight until it heals. Knuckles take a little longer…no matter how I know! 😉

How did you remove the half shell in one piece? great video. loved the outcome!
@northwestcarving52965 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! To answer the question about the golf ball I marked the center with a sharpie and then used a hand saw to cut the very outer layer. After that I used a flat head screw driver to remove the lid leaving behind the core.

@@northwestcarving5296 thanks for the reply. im gonna give this a go!!
@northwestcarving52965 ай бұрын
Go for it! 👍 Just make sure you are careful when taking the outer layer of the golf ball off. It is easy for the screw driver to slip.
