I rode 765 on 9-11 and went out after to go chase her, I was in a blue, purple and pink flannel with a pony tail holding the camera and my friend brought her dog along with us. I have footage of that run by but from the side I was on my channel along with different days of catching 765.

Why are slips so common for this engine? There are so many videos of such cases on KZbin... Or is it just me (I.E. her slips are the ones I keep getting recommended)
@johnbutler13233 жыл бұрын
Massive power that requires a light touch on the throttle. The 611 has 5000 horsepower and 80,000 lbs of tractive effort. By way of comparison, the Union Pacific 844 has 4500 horsepower and 63,750 lbs of tractive effort.

I think railfans like it so the drivers make it do it for the camera, no different to when you give a guy with a modified car a thumbs up and they do a burnout or give it a rev or something

I have seen my fair share of close calls while running a train. A couple of things to remember here: 1. The photographer was obviously using a very long lens, which substantially fore-shortens distances. That is, the train is much farther from the crossing than it appears to be. This also accounts for the difficulty in stabilizing the field of view. 2. The gates are down, so the car drivers are indeed super idiots. I don't see any flashing lights, however. 3. The train horn doesn't activate until after both cars have already cleared the crossing by a pretty good good margin. It should be within 15 and 20 seconds of entering the crossing (GCOR). A few of the stupid idiots that I saw cleared by about 3 feet when my train was at 30 mph (unsignaled crossing). Of course we were only a 10 car passenger train (about 1 million pounds) so the damage would have probably been not so bad (<-- sarcasm). 4. There is probably a slow order for this section of track (or maybe the switch too), so the engineer is going slowly on purpose. Of course, that's when people seem to always act very stupidly. Nice train video. Thanks for posting.

@@bearfoxtrot_101I suppose so, then I’d hope for one of the other preserved yellowstones to be restored if the funding comes to play, I think 229 would be the easier one to move, just need to lay down some rails to get to the nearby tracks in Two Harbors
@bearfoxtrot_1019 ай бұрын
@@jaedenlyons to restore any of the 3 would cost millions. The absolute easiest would be 227 but they'd have to somehow shift the log loader on track 4 to the side to allow 227 on 5 to be able to back out.

@@bearfoxtrot_101I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, even though the likelihood is next to none, that a yellowstone will ever run again. It’s definitely not impossible.
