Traxxas has some power up program where u trade in ur old electronics and they sell u the vxl package for $130. I'm kinda new to the hobby, so is that considered a good deal?

I typically don’t use the power up program. My reasoning is that I can sell the used parts for more than the credit they give me. Also traxxas makes good products but if you are on a low budget there are many other companies that make good products for cheaper.

It is not a direct fit, i made a custom bracket to fit mine so I could switch the bodies out.

Yes so when the body gets scratched the paint doesn’t come off. That is why they are clear.

I have this same combo on a slash 4x4 that I bought used on eBay. I soldered a Traxxas connector on the ESC so I can use the same batteries as my other Slash 4x4 which is stock and uses Traxxas batteries. Is there any problem using the Traxxas batteries with this Hobbywing combo since the Traxxas batteries are only 25C. I ran it on a Traxxas 3S 4000mah LiPo battery and it ran fine with no temp issues.

No the traxxas batteries work good with this combo. Just make sure to balance your lipos every charge and have low voltage detection on on the esc.

@@crashnsmashrc9875 Just an FYI. I emailed Hobbywing Support and here is their response. Thank you for contacting HOBBYWING. Based on your combo selection we recommend a 70C rating or higher lipo battery. These are High Amp ESC that will require a consent flow of power. Low C rated battery can not keep up with High Amp ESC, which will create unwanted heat. Eventually damaging the ESC.

Ive used bigger tires on my slash and it handles it well. I would go down a couple teeth on the pinion though.

If it doesn’t come with one you would have to solder it on yourself or get someone else to do it. Soldering is pretty easy and a good skill to have- lots of youtube videos to help you out.

About 30-40mph depends on gearing. Higher kv = more top speed less accel and takes more heat than lower

The body did not fit with the original mounting hardware. I had to modify it.

The higher kv motors are going to go faster but run hotter with the same gearing

If your motor is overheating go for less teeth on you pinion.

Came back to watch again, getting a Jeep body... probably Hunter or Forest green though. What camera is on your Deadbolt, is it good, have to use any goggles or can you just have it show on your phone? Been looking for one for my trucks, maybe switch to my plane too.

I just bought some cheap goggles on amazon. Any will typically work. For the camera I use a camera and transmitter from amazon that was very cheap. You have to youse goggles because the camera uses a radio frequency instead of something like a Bluetooth connection.

Well done. Rookie question here. Do you paint just the inside, which leaves the clear body material to protect from scratches?

Yes exactly. Just paint the inside that way when you scratch the exterior the paint still shows. Typically there is a thin film to keep the paint from getting on the outside.

With stock gearing for my slash 4x4 should i get a 3300 kv or 4000 kv? I go offroad and on road so if i get the 3300 kv i can just gear it up to go faster and keep it stock for offroad right?

If you off-road and have big tires I would go with the 3300kv. You can always gear up if you want to go faster.

I think if i want the speed i’ll just get his system and gear it up but idk what do you think i should get. Oh and i run stock tires.

This combo on stock gearing and 3s is still as fast as you want to go bashing around. If you are running 2s most often You could go with the castle. If you run 3s I would get this combo.

Hey I got a traxxas slash 4x4 ultimate and I love it, i run on 5400mah 2s battery and I’m about to get a 3s battery. How much did all the upgrades cost as well as how fast can it go with the motor and cooling fan upgrades u did? Cheers as well as include a currency as well thanks

With the slash and all of my upgrades I probably have around $1,200 usd in it. It can run about 70mph max. The ezrun motor and esc I have run cool so I dont need a fan.

As well as any upgrade recommendations. Other than in the video. I am ordering a VG racing chassis brace, traxxas aluminium motor mount, thr bearing adaptor to replace the plastic one next to the slipper clutch, battery extended for taller battery’s, as well as I have a heat sync on the engine and I run 5400mah 3s Nile connector.

The top speed with the same gearing will be slightly lower but a 4000kv will have lots of strain pushing a 4wd.

So the pitch is the space between the teeth not the amount of teeth. The mesh is the space between the pinion and the spur gears. To set the mesh I would take a piece of paper and push the pinion all the way down with the paper between them. After that take the paper out and your mesh will be set.

Yes, though it would have a lot of torque with stock gearing. You could go up on the kv rating some if you want it to have better top speed on 2s.

4000kv would be good. If you want to go faster a 5400kv would work but you probably wont be able to run 3s without overheating.

If you have overheating I would play around with gearing. Also it could be in an rc that is too large for the motor and esc.
