It's not an APU it's the AAPP or A squared P squared. Rover gas turbine driving an alternator. Electric or cartridge start. Starts on cartridge if the Non essentials are tripped.

Not been on the X30 for some time ,would be £2 fare Rochford Hospital to Airport Roundabout then X30 to Chelmsford and same back so£8 in total ,i tend to take train from Rochford Station to Chelmsford as RS only 12 mins walk away and i get 33 per cent off with Railcard so only £10 return ,mind you if i lived by the X30 route like you do i would use it lol🙂

At one time in the 1970s to 1991 Southend would have been full of these ECW bodied Bristol VRTs with Eastern National and years later in bus wars Southend Transport bought a few secondhand !

Wasn't so long ago Southend was Dart city with Thamesway,Arriva ,Regal Busways,NIBS and Stephenson's with various examples !

For me, I still can’t accept this bus was being open-topped. I still remember in 2002, TransBus (ADL back in the day) specially built this bus as a demonstrator for the Hong Kong market as a new product to replace the Dennis Trident. That time the bus is equipped with a Cummins ISCe and and a ZF 5HP602C gearbox (if I remember correctly). It is still wired to hear the sound of a euro5 engine matching with a MK1 Enviro 500 body and being open-top, but I think it is still nice to see it back on the road again. Good video👍

Good video I have bought a new mobile phone today as old one conked out ,transferred Facebook and Instagram ok but Tik Tok I had to make a new account as old phone dead etc so don't worry if I "like "your Tik Toks but can't comment as it says "restricted comments "or something 🙂
