Hi dear Rob. It's Carmen again, from The Netherlands. I read your reaction adtessed to me, but at that moment my female friend was with me, so I did put a like on your respons, but didn't get the chance...yet..to continue our lil talk. Therefor I thought, well.. I'll just place a comment here.. How are you doing? Are you getting more help since you started out this channel?? I sure hope so. I think you're such a sweetheart and I love that we both treasure both Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa. I hope we can keep in touch more often. What a great new song again by Beth, btw! Love your reaction, just like the other 2...or 3(not sure, to be honost ☺️) I saw last week!! 🙏🏻😉Hugs from Carmen! Stay safe! 🤗💕

Dearest Carmen, I'm delighted to read from you once again! =) I appreciate you, and our gradually growing conversation. It's nice sharing a love of music, in addition to learning more about one another. I actually started this channel quite some time ago, and was chronicling making an album of my own, but it never materialized, so during that time I was also doing videos on personal music suggestions. Around that same time, I was going through a divorce, and relocating as well, and although I did continue making some videos sporadically, I didn't really have a proper focus. After my last serious relationship ended in the fall of 2020, I started getting ideas for redoing my channel. I re: launch my channel as "Media Awareness" in 2022, and have been going continuously since that time. I began the fundraiser, based on a recommendation of a woman in California that I met via this channel. I was having issues with my wheelchair/scooter seat at that time, and started the fundraiser for that initially, as well as other parts for my wheelchair. It has been successful to some degree, and I am optimistic that I will meet the goal I have set. I primarily spend time by myself, so I enjoy sharing my thoughts on music on KZbin, either in videos, and/or comments. I was a professional counselor for over 15 years, but retired from that field of work in 2011, while in the process of my divorce. I was attempting to rewrite my future in life to some extent, so I also decided to start writing, a lifelong passion of mine, and I am currently in the final stages of editing a vampire novel I wrote. I also have written and recorded my own songs, and recently had a Swedish band record one of my songs. I have two wonderful children, a daughter who is grown and living on her own, and a son in high school, and I share time with him and my ex-wife equally. My ex and I remained friend, so there is no drama either. My apologies for this overly long and excessively detailed message. I just turned 53 years old last week, and I selectively talk to individuals, and I'm very flattered by you, hence this response. I would love to continue corresponding with you, and you are more than welcome to e-mail me, my e-mail is both in the description of my videos, as well as in the about section on my channel. In terms of this new song, it really invigorated my Outlook on life at the current time, and possibilities for the future. Beth has such an incredible way of conveying emotion and is so unique in today's music scene. I do look forward to hearing from you more, however you choose to contact me. My Facebook is also linked in the description as well, if you would like to use that as an option. In whatever manner you choose to continue our conversation however, I will be grateful to hear from you, and potentially learn more about you, in addition to sharing more about me... =) Cheers! Xo

Already love Joe Bonamassa same time you did, dear Rob, and through him I learned about imo the best female artist, the beautifull and lovely Beth Hart! She's has already written so many beautifull songs, but this one is..at least for today (I tend to switch my favorite Beth Hart songs on a regulair basis 🤭😁). I hope your situation will improve soon. If I could support you financially, trust me, I would! Bless you! Sending you again much love from The Netherlands. 🤗❤

I am really glad that you enjoyed that song. Regarding the whole "normal" thing; my thought is this.... People often conflate "normal" with "conventional." What is conventional often changes with time, and even varies by culture. It's subjective. Normal really just means that you are oriented towards something, that you have direction, dreams and goals, that may or may not be what is conventional.
@rmg2112
@rmg2112 Ай бұрын
In essence, "normality", as a perceived concept, is relative to different demographics, in terms of their definition of "normal". I found the lyrics to be personally relatable, and I was extremely moved to say the least... =) It was a pleasure to experience such a powerful composition. Cheers! =)
@ZetaReticuli_
@ZetaReticuli_ Ай бұрын
@@rmg2112 Yes, at least what is commonly defined as "normality" is actually just conventionalism. I am really glad that you enjoyed the song, and that you really seem to be enjoying "post-punk/darkwave/Gothic music in general. I totally agree with you about being able to relate to the lyrics. I have always been someone who marched to his own drumbeat. And it is not always an easy path to walk, but I don't know how to be anyone else but me, and that is why I relate so much to the music, om top of just loving the dark, yet ethereal sound. It was Ayn Rand who said that the smallest minority is the individual. Goth has always been about being yourself.

@@ZetaReticuli_ Having been disabled for a vast majority of my life, I have always been on the outside looking in, yet never with contempt, or jealousy, but more as an observer, assessing individuals actions and reactions in a multitude of various scenarios. As a singer/songwriter myself, I have strived to convey a variety of thoughts, feelings, and emotions in my compositions, but only recently became truly confident enough to begin to convey these things, using computer software to assist, in terms of the musical aspects. As a child I was gifted musically, able to play any instrument I looked at accurately, and with ease, my disability however stifled those natural abilities, and attempts to collaborate with individuals musically has been predominantly a frustrating experience. Now however, I will be embarking on my own musical journey in the near future, capturing my vision for how I desire my material to truly sound. As a fellow Ayn Rand admirer, I couldn't agree more with the perspective of the individual. There is so much more to be said, speaking from one's own standpoint, or within a minority, as opposed to a collective of the masses. Cheers! =)
@ZetaReticuli_
@ZetaReticuli_ Ай бұрын
@@rmg2112 I am sorry your disability caused that. I give you major props for remaining in good spirits, and for not looking at things with contempt. That's very admirable of you. Cool to know you like Ayn Rand also. There's actually some great radio interviews with her here on YT from the late 1950s that are worth a listen. Reading your story, I can see why you like this kind of music; like you said, the outsider looking in. For me, I get that too, as we are both social observers.
@rmg2112
@rmg2112 Ай бұрын
@@ZetaReticuli_ I appreciate your flattering and kind words, regarding my diligence, in terms of music, and creating my own. Although I wrote and recorded over the years, certain family members were always discouraging my music. Admittedly, I don't have the greatest voice, but neither does Tom Waits, or Bob Dylan, and in my opinion, it's not about the quality of the vocal delivery, but rather the emotion captured in that delivery. I don't care if anyone ever hears my music the way I envisioned it to sound, and with those who have discouraged my musical endeavors having passed away, I feel free to indulge my creativity fully! With regard to Ayn Rand, I will look for those audio interviews. She was a one-of-a-kind visionary, and is sadly overlooked, in terms of the relevance of her philosophies. Fortunately, even a minority, such as ourselves can find inspiration in her work, and live our lives to their fullest, marching to the beat of our own drum. "Who is John Galt?" Cheers! =)

I've followed Richie Castellano and "Band Geek" on YT for almost 10 years so I already knew how good they are as musicians and also how much they are into Yes. I guess I got an extensive library now on KZbin - and I got an extensive library of songs yet to be published. I've done music for so many years now and I didn't start publishing the songs on KZbin until 3 years ago. So even if there's alot of tracks on the page there's still many to come - just on the basis of releasing old tracks. But I try to focus on the new stuff. But sometimes I like to do some rework and/or finishing old tracks. Like this one. This one's going back to 2009 and has been half forgoten for all these years until I finally finished it. I think it turned out real good. In these years I have become a better musician - and a better technician and it helps when working on the tracks. I thought for some reason the old stuff didn't stand the test compare to the new. But when listening I realize that in many cases they do. They are just different. Like this one: A song under 4 minutes and with a harmonica solo. For all we know it can be a hit! But I think my music tend to spread in many direction and I don't have a plan for how the songs should sound like in advance. But I guess that's what has become the trademark of my music.

I am beyond impressed, and, looking at my own songs written over the years, there are those that stand the test of time, whereas others simply provide a window into our past, and specific moments captured in those songs. One of my songs that I keep reworking dates back to the early 1990s, it's still not the way I want it to sound. Good things sometimes take time, and not only did I find myself able to relate to the lyrics of this song, but also, the intensity of the music, and it's raw yet precise delivery was hypnotic... =) I love it! Cheers my friend... =)
