CLASSSSIIIIIIIIC...!!! Never made it to an onE party back in the day, even though it was on my teen raver 'bucket list'... just didn't pan out. Appreciated the reflections on rave culture in some of your other videos, as well. Great to see some critical thought applied to the craziness that many of us were immersed in at that time. Opening my mind to the many roads to walk down in analyzing 90s-2000 rave culture!

Thank you for this ❤ I really want inclusivity and acceptance to be the norm in the rave scene today. Party with love in your heart and embrace your fellow ravers ❤ We have to take care of each other.

If this was the one in LA that got shut down by the police and turned into a riot I was there.
@JacobSolbux7 күн бұрын
Yes, this was one of the many parties that got shut down or was trying to get broken up in the recording. Also check out Donald Glaude how sweet it is 97 set or 99 on my page as well. Its a good cop & drugs moment.

I used to get down with the fresh produce crew. Downtown l.a. early 2000's. Party gets broken up around 230am. Driving down the 101 405 to Laurel Canyon. Me my buddy 2 girls we meet up with at the party. My buddy's driving his 56 Ford truck. His hands running all around his steering wheel because it just feels so good. Girls giggling at our back and forth about it. We go park at a spot overlooking all of Hollywood and the San Fernando valley. Smoking some killer green. Drinking back to his house off of Coldwater Canyon. We all need to wash our hands, together, right then. The things that happened after that, are the things the L.A. rave scene dreams are made of.

Heavy hitter that I've never heard. Wow, the mixing on this one is special, a 3 tables kitchen sink dc throwdown. Very inspirational. I wish there was a time machine I'd go back and do it all over again!
Out of this world. They don't make em like this anymore.

People don't even know how legend Ernie Munson is. When I hit the rave scene in San Fran in '90-'91, there were some greats in the mix already (Jeno, Garth, Martin, &tc), but Ernie was from another planet entirely. What was he? I used to study the brother's face - he looked like Asian and Chicano mixed with Phillipino, like an Ewok mixed with a samurai - very intense. He played time signatures, breaks and chord progressions NO ONE else would even dare to mix. The acidheads loved him best and so did I. He was fearless and took risks no one else did, he is legend because he understood the lesson from Larry Levan - DYNAMICS. I don't know if I hallucinated it or not, but one night I saw him take two identical copies of an acapella, cue them up, with the 2nd copy a millisecond behind. They went in and out of phase for ten minutes, slathered in echo. No breakbeat, no beat at all - agonizing for the dancers waiting in suspense. Munson would push it past all reasonable limits, and then drop some insane 7/8 conga breakbeat at hyperdelic speed that would rearrange your DNA. I mean, damn. I once paid him double to drive down 50 miles south to introduce his magic out in Silicon Valley. We got some Stanford right wing kids in there, gave them an E and dropped some Munson knowledge on them. One of those dudes got in touch with me 20 years later and said, "Thanks for saving me from becoming a stockbroker or political analyst, my world changed that night." I said, '"Thanks, but that wasn't me, that was ...... DJ ERNIE MUNSON.
