I first heard about the BBC losing Neighbours whilst traveling on a National Express coach between Leeds and Birmingham. Was sitting at the front of the coach and for some reason the driver had the radio on. Remember saying to the driver "That's a shame" but got no response out of him. Guessing he wasn't a bit interested. Whilst waiting at Birmingham Digbeth for my connecting coach I found out that Five had picked up the show.

I first heard about Neighbours moving to Channel 5 when I was in Year 7 at The Priory School, in one dinner break Heather said to me and the other school pupils on our dinner table in the hall that Neighbours is now on Channel 5. It was unclear to me at the time why it left BBC1 for Channel 5, but I was surprised since that already happened with rival Australian soap Home And Away after I remembered it originally being shown on ITV...

7 years on people still saying this neighbours we are just 2 weeks behind australia now with much better promotion on five as well way it was treated in its last few years on bbc was terrible

Bbc had much better rights with the other soaps eastenders witch was and still is on bbc1 so that is why neighbours shoulda stayed on bbc1 because it have much more control over the soap

I remember watching this when it aired on TV and being absolutely in love with Pepper lol. This had the potential to be a really good storyline, shame they just used it as a ratings ploy.

OK I get the point that these people are characters, however re-casts are what bring neighbours down. Re-casting baby characters to their older equivalent, fair enough but the Summer/Declan/temporary libby was just ridiculous and a bad move, people grow with the people they see originally in certain parts and whether they love or hate the actor/character it doesn't work to re-cast screen parts in the way it does with theatre.
