Instead of Copic Multiliner, you can use Sakura Pigma Micron Fineliner Pens. They use archival quality ink.

Thanks voor the video. I had the same problem with Pentel pocket brush pen, it was just too wet to create dry brush effect, so I pulled out the cartridge and use it as a dip brush together with rotring ink.Works pretty well for me that way now.

How does this stand up to long term usage? Do the bristles fray? Does it lose its shape and no longer produce fine lines? I'm happy with my Pentel and I'm always looking for a better brush pen.

A genuine and semi stupid question, but do you by chance sell or have a resource where to get inking practice sheets with decent quality paper, I was printing off sketched out comics for a bit but my buddy’s printer kinda sucks XD;;; I want to learn to do better line work as I am mostly a digital artist, and finding your page a few weeks ago really got me going to dip my toes back into hand inking.

Try the Caran D'Ache Fixpencil 3 it fits a Hunt 102, I just tried it. I personally never found any issues with the Speedball crowquill holder. I have some regular pen holders that I drilled a 3mm hole, I also did the same to a metal scalpel pen to try it out, I found it too heavy, there's definitely a market here, surprised the chinese didn't clone those Maxon all metal pen holders which were a clone of the Grifhold nib holder, the japanese ones go for a lot.

You are not respecting the lighting and line weights. Example 0:13 top left hand corner Batman face. Bridge of his nose should have a thinner line. Light is hitting it. Under the nose should have the thicker line. Overrall, you have too many deadlines. Deadlines means no variance of thick to thin, especially. When you are texturing. Richard Friend and Jimmy Reyes go over inking on their KZbin channels.

Really excellent work! I think it looks great! I'd love to see the effects of those two red Michael's "segmented" brushes. I only use synthetics, but have yet to try a trad synthetic brush that didn't have something about it I disliked, so I've resigned myself to various synthetic brush pens. I'd like to try a Kuretake 13! FYI, if you don't like the stock ink in the Pentels, I have successfully refilled their cartridges/bodies (for the squishy gray fude ones) using a syringe with UIltradraw for a couple years now without ever cleaning them. Also used Ultradraw in a Kuretake 8. Never had any clog, but I do use the pens daily. If you get the big bottle of Ultradraw, you save a lot of money! Just shake it well before you fill your pens, and you'll have a very smooth, super black ink: )

You have to pay a lot of attention to the outside contours of each object with Brett's pencils. If you can get it all to 'pop' with the outside line weights alone, the rendering stuff is mostly 'one line' over and over. I inked a number of Brett's pages years ago.

I play videos like these in the background when I draw. Since I draw a lot, I'm always in search of new artists with a different style, a different voice, different techniques, etc. I really absorbed a lot from watching and listening. Your work is amazing. You really lean into the detail when a lot of artists find ways to use shorthand or just block out those sections in shadow. Im looking forward to drawing to more of your videos good sir.
