Wicked is actually my all time favorite book. I can't believe all the hate it's getting! It's absolutely not for children and definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but the symbolism is so beautiful.

Ever since I heard about the movie Wicked I have been asking if it's like the books. I found the story to be so good because it keeps you on your toes. You don't know what could possibly come next. Anyway thank you for covering THIS ❤

Thank you!! I'd definitely watch if you did any of the other books. I'm torn, I want tk read them just to see ... But they're so strange I don't think I could get into them. And wow, way more sexualized than Wikipedia led me to believe lol. Maybe Maguire was in the middle of a draught, because none of that made sense!

I read the book when it came out, and wanted to refresh myself on the story. So happy to find your video. I remembered it being something I did not want to re-read, but I blocked out the details with the Musical Story (which I like better). Ten years later and … the book is still ew. I do appreciate your video, and will sign up for your new channel when it’s ready!

Those difficult these came into play in the book, because he didn’t want to sugar coat the actual horrors of war and genocide. The author of the wizard of oz I was pro eugenics and called the extermination of native Americans, allot of his ideas and his active hand in eugenics are still being actively used today against my people. His book is in direct opposition to eugenics and genocide without sugar coating the horrors that come along with it and the people who perpetuate it

Thank you so much for this! The time you put into reading, dissecting, videoing, costuming, etc is phenomenal! I’ve seen the movie twice and have struggled through the book… literally 50 pages from the end… and I’m so very happy to have stumbled upon your summary! You did a fantastic job of summarizing; please do more!

I have a few similarities in 2024. I have words for the year 2025 too, but mine are boring and mundane. I just need a year of no drama, no illness and as boring and as mundane as possible. Also my washing machine and then tumble dryer broke in October and November . December it cost me £164.99 + vat + delivery for a toilet seat also in December I needed a new bed and was moving my current bed to another room and it broke so ended up buying two beds. So please 2025 be really boring 🙏

I was considering buying the book and I am glad I found your summary. I am disturbed by the amount of sexual tension and sexual scenarios involving minors. That doesn’t sound like an enjoyable read for me. The rest sounds interesting, but I can’t get over the sexualizing of something like CPR on a small boy, or making a 10 year old girl flirt with military men/fantasize about being caught topless… it’s just not for me!

Donate to your local shelters. Also minimalism does help, it's changed my life , obviously I don't do extreme minimalism but throwing some stuff out and donating helps.

Great video about the real, historical events involved with Newsies! So much history surrounding the characters, social aspects of the times, and people just trying to make it in the world. Newsies is a great, although very compact, version of the events, but it does get the main story across fine. Thanks for the time and effort researching everything.

Having read the Novel AFTER seeing the Musical for the first time, I was astounded by HOW DIFFERENT the Musical was from it. Having read the original Oz Books, I'm surprised that I didn't read Wicked the Novel back in 1995 when it first came out, BUT, I was in college back at that time, and I didn't have a lot of time to read recreationally as I was reading a great deal on what I was studying. There wasn't a great deal of publicity about the novel back when it came out initially, but when the musical came out eight years later in 2003, it revived interest in the novel, and I went out and bought it after I saw the Musical for the first time with the Original Broadway Cast. I wasn't shocked by how much darker the Novel was, because the Musical gives you a MERE HINT of those darker themes, but what did surprise me was that both Elphaba and Fiyero were more decidedly ethnic, with Fiyero being a man of color and Elphaba being more "demon-like" than a Witch.
@nyxmethyst96517 күн бұрын
It's kind of funny how the musical's subtitle is "the untold story of the witches of Oz" as it keeps the source material untold due to how dark it ended up being. 😂❤

Un-Pop-U-lar opinion here but I felt loathing, unadulterated loathing towards this book. Gregory Maguire struck me as a scatological fetishist and, well, kind of a perv in the parts about Nor. She was 10, you creep! I barely made it through the book. There were lots of ideas thrown around with no cohesive plot, lots of loose ends, as you said. I don't care enough about the world he's created -- or borrowed or plagiarized or pissed on (to borrow a favorite idea of his) -- to read the others. It's been years since I read it so this excellent recap reminded me how much I hated it, lol. I finally watched the movie musical the other day and also hated that -- no shade on Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande who were great. Totally different from the book -- which shouldn't be a bad thing -- but the pacing was so sluggish, the songs, with a few exceptions, weren't memorable, and the reworked plot was terribly thin. I'm sorry but I don't understand the hype here. It feels like hype because others are hyped. Viral hype, I guess, apart from actual merit. Harsh opinion that I'm sure will be unpopular but that's okay.

I know wet cat food is quite unappealing to the nose, but you should feed cats more wet food than dry food throughout their lives! Dry food can result in health issues further down the line, kidney issues to be specific. The kittens are adorable btw! It's always reccomended to adopt multiple cats rather than one so they have constant company and become more sociable, and the fact they're also siblings is great💗

Just finished the audiobook after seeing pt 1 of the movie…very different. Elphaba’s death seemed so empty. And the weird sexual bits seemed random and unimportant to the plot. But idk I grew up reading Stephen King. Anyway you did a great job summarizing the book thanks for putting in the work. On to Son of a Witch
