Maybe you can interview Beijingers so that we can practise our listening skills on real-life Chinese. It's challenging listening to Northern Chinese people. It feels like they're eating every word they say.
Your Chinese teaching is do great.Easuer to follow and examples to understand better

If someone asks me what I am doing, and for example, I am resting. Do I tell them, "我正在躺“ or ”我躺着“? I think they are both wrong but I am not sure. Please let me know professor! Thank you!

When I first started learning Chinese, the textbook was around 50 years old and still considered the best in the US for some reason. It had quite a few phrases and idioms that just weren't used by anyone under 60 or so.

This is a brilliant learning resource but I've always said that the translation is big time off for somene with English as a first language. I mean for example, zhe ge gong yuan bu xuyao men piao" translation: This park doesn't need tickets. For someone learning the proper translation is "no need for tickets at this part". Because the brain when learning is looking for proper translation how one themeselves would communicate. To those with English as their first language I would say have patience because the brain after sometime that is will unravel it and make sense of it. I've dropped Mandarin and come back to it so many times now over a course of many many years. It is only now I'm beginning to feel confident that I'm able to learn it and understand it because I kept coming back now and again. I was lucky to not forget many words or they came back quickly but the best part is the translation is now becoming much clearer as recognising patterns. Without any doubt it is a brilliant learning resource, in fact one of the top learning resources and the fact that it's free and not useless as some freebies can be. Thank you Tian Tian Mandarin.
