Yep as instructed at your site induction and drummed into everyone by health and safety that's what your RT is for a simple call of overtaking on your right side water truck then waiting for a reply would have prevented a tragedy totally. I operate a big rig dust suppression unit the vision isn't the best from these rigs that coupled with the engine noise makes RT contact very vital from anyone approaching them. LVs do tend to be your biggest problem at being lapse on the communications side.
