What if we use step up transformer
@RimstarOrg
@RimstarOrg 11 сағат бұрын
You could try but there's not a lot of current here to run a transformer. I think you'd want to step down the voltage though, not up. But that just means turning the transformer around.

Great Vid, short and too the point!!! I made one when I was a kid, my dad knew eletronics, and tried to teach me, at the time my dad had a heath kit 2 m reciever that was soo cool!! I still dont know much about elertonics, and was wondering ???... If you could use a modern day germanium diode, I bought a kit from china for my raspberry pi's to start learning stuff, and it has a lot of germanium diode's... but not 1n34....
@RimstarOrg
@RimstarOrg 11 сағат бұрын
If they're germanium diodes then they should work. Are you sure they're germanium diodes though. Most diodes that you see these days are silicon diodes and those require a more power signal from the radio waves, usually meaning an antenna a hundred or more feet or being very close to the radio station so that you get a strong signal..

1:56 NO! You found the center of the corner of the piece of paper you drew the square on, and the approximate center of the circle that you approximately laid within the square. You should have done what you were starting to do which was to find the longest Side Market and then go perpendicular and find the longest side and Mark that and that's your center of the piece
@RimstarOrg
@RimstarOrg 3 күн бұрын
I'm not sure that would have been any better, probably just as good. The diameter of my circular cardboard piece varied a lot, it was pretty rough. A line across the longest diameter may not even have crossed the center. But similarly, when I measured the diameter, I also may not have found a line across the center. With an ideal circle, both methods would work. (That's assuming I understood correctly what you described.)

I don't know. But it can be made smaller by putting a ferrite core inside the coil, then the coil can have a smaller diameter. The capacitor can be made smaller too, there are smaller commercially made variable capacitors you can buy. You'd still need a good antenna though. I made a bigger, portable one using a pizza box here kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnOQaGmEmcuHmLc

So if there is that much voltage in the atmosphere, then free energy is possible if you solve the low current problem. How does lightning work to achieve so much current then? Achieving free energy then literally boils down to continuously creating and trapping lightning in a bottle.

A lot of ignorance in the comments. Bearings this size are rated for 30,000+ RPM and 300 lbs static, 600 lbs dynamic load. His use case is .01%-.001% of that bearing’s capacity. Everyone quick to naysay “bUt tHaT’s bAd fOr tHe bEaRiNg” without thinking about the application. Aerospace bearing? No I would not remove the seal/lubricant. Bearing with 90% duty cycle? No I would not remove the seal/lubricant. Bearing for a music box? That turns maybe 5 rpm with about 4 oz total radial load on it and a .01% duty cycle? Bruh, stop overthinking it. It’s operating at 1% of its design envelope. Besides, if it fails, nobody dies, dude replaces a bearing that cost $0.80. WOW. You’re arguing about misuse of an 80 cent part. 🤔 🤡

Richard Feynman came up with the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics, the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as his work in particle physics for which he proposed the parton model. For his contributions to the development of quantum electrodynamics, Feynman received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965 jointly with Julian Schwinger and Shin'ichirō Tomonaga. The man was a giant! Leaving Earth in 1988 (aged 69), his contributions are eternal however. What an absolute legend!

Okay so we're building a boat running on solar panels and I want to read data from the MPPT's and BMV700 we have installed through the USB ports of the pi, I've rewritten all the code from last year and wiped the pi's OS completely, but now I don't know what the serial port names or something are for the USB's. How do I figure that out? I believe it used to be /dev/ttyUSBPORT1 and so forth, but I don't believe that's working anymore. Any way to check?

Kinda bullshit. You can have hundreds and thousands of volts, but if the amps don't exceed that very miniscule amount, nothing will happen. Sure, it takes both, but the fact that amps does it in the milli form makes it the more dangerous part of the equation.

@RimstarOrg 15 күн бұрын
It sounds like you're using a much too powerful soldering iron. 50 or 60 watts should be enough. 30 watts is usually too little. You could also be holding the tip of the iron on there for too long, only a second or so should be needed.

No crystal is needed. In the early 1900s, the diode was actually a chunk of galena crystal and you'd touch it with the sharp tip of a wire but these days you use a diode like the one I show in this video.

Hey guys, i was an amateur in a simple electronic, but i was an absolute beginner in something like radio. I have some question, So I (we) can each design our own crystal radio according to our needs and creativity and it was : - How to determine the AM frequency range based on the coil (wire diameter and wire length or coil diameter) - How to determine when and how to use variable capacitors - How to determine the parallel resistor value on the audio output - How to determine the inductance value using information on the highest planned AM frequency range - How to determine the inductance value based on the length and diameter of the wire used in the coil - How to make a variable inductor
@RimstarOrg
@RimstarOrg 16 күн бұрын
That's a lot of questions. This video kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6S9goZofLSAh6c shows how I made it and has all the dimensions for the capacitor and coils. This one has another way of making the variable inductor (coil) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmXcnoZ9fZVggNE using taps. There are many ways to make a crystal radio, but the basic idea is to have capacitance and inductance to tune into a specific frequency (preferably) and that capacitance and inductance can be in the antenna, coil and/or capacitor. In my radio I use an inductor (coil) and capacitor in parallel (there are also series circuits). This video one goes into how the crystal radio works kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqbTd4yVZ5miY5Y and I have specifc videos for how the parallel circuit works but they're best viewed from my webpage which also has calculators rimstar.org/science_electronics_projects/coil_design_inductance.htm and rimstar.org/science_electronics_projects/lc_circuit_aka_tank_or_resonant_circuit.htm .
