Cool boat and engine I've never heard of that brand. Is a wizard prop horse power or flywheel hp? Chances are 12 hp flywheel hp. Probably right about 8 hp like the new one but new Mercury has no story no history no nostalgia and the kid seems nostalgicaly correct.

Hey guys ! Before going to replace the windscreen, use an acrylic lacquer clear spray can on a section of the plexiglass... You should use fine wet sandpaper or cloth on the surface that has the most damage from the ultraviolet light. ( front facing surface usually )

you should get the cables and hook up the steering and throttle not a hard job

buy a new coupler and the gimbal bearing and bellows.:)

The last boat windshield that I needed I had made. I went and got the manufacture name off a windshield on a boat at Bass Pro of all places. They were more than happy to make a custom windshield. We made up a template of what we wanted and sent it to them. About month later we had a windshield back with all the mounting hardware that fit perfect.

Best practice: Use the highest quality full synthetic oil& filters u can find. I buy 5qt jugs of Mobil1 full synthetic oils, matched w/Mobil1 or K&N filters. Glad 2c that u prime your filter2 prevent dry startup oiling delay damages. I’m sure that u finger lubed the seal& wiped clean the filter seal seat on the block. Consider upgrading to LiON batteries in all your motor vehicles as the PB’s age out. I use DUHON from China. They’re 13.8v, less than 1/3 the weight of AGM’s, waterproof, high quality, long life. But I paid about $480 ea. shipped. A long flat shovel &a wide garage brush is handy4 prelaunch ramp cleaning &slippery algae removal. A bucket of dry bank sand helps too.

Look up steering bars and bend one up and you can rig the steering with vinyl coated stainless rope and special springs. Just google steering on older boats.

Its newer than 52 I think it is closer to 57 with the repco magneto. It is equivalant to a Mark 15 merc .

Use a puller and put the nut most of the way on to protect the threads and only tap the puller ,do not strike the flywheel or you will break the magnets.

That wizard is a mercury through and through originally sold by Noahs Ark stores. I would say about 1953. Most if not alll merc parts will fit but you will have google antique merc parts.

Plexus polish works great on plexi-glass. Ive found it at motorcycle shops.

21 year, and multiple LB7 owner...don't expect a lot of turbo whistle from a fixed vane turbo on an LB7. Still, you got the best of all the generations, especially for an application like this. No EGR or other emissions crap. A 64mm turbo, 40% over S&S SAC injectors, and EFI live 5 position SOTF, and you'll lose your shit at the power.

I think the Kid is going to like fishing in that boat. It would be nice if they could find that nice lady who helped Emily and the Kid fishing on their trip. Does Teas require that you have at least one paddle onboard? When are we going to see Finley shirts? Might sell some to help finance that boat. Get yourself a used 35 gallon oil drum to test with plenty of water to keep the engine cool. My dad always kept one to get the engine ready for fishing season and for working on engines for other people. I'm glad Aaron didn't rack his shoulders pulling on that rope. In Texas you need to get a boat number and a regeneration sticker. Could get you a ticket or worse, boat confiscation. I thought my hobby was fishing but I believe my true hobby is working on old boats.

Best upgrade you can buy for an old boat with an old outboard, is a paddle.

Best practice on those impellers is2 soap up the interior instead of the impeller. Then it will slip right in. Do the same w/the hoses just b4 reinstall &they will pop right on.
