Hi Susan, I tried this class today in my apartment. I don't have a ton of space and I didn't want to make too much noise. It was perfect. I have a question... later in the video when we do the squats you say to have your feet with the toes inward and heels outward, why? I never heard that before and it certainly changes the sensation of the movement. Thanks! Happy New Year and have a great day.

Hi Martha! I used to work for an amazing scientist/chiropractor a few years ago…and he was a MASTER of body mechanics. (Truly, dispelling many of the “form” falsehoods taught in the world of fitness.). The “toes in heels out” position is the correct “neutral” position for our bodies to prevent knee and hip issues. If you watch 99.9% of people walk and stand, they walk with heels in and toes out…thus creating improper force on our knees and hips. Since I have incorporated “toes in and heels out” in my walking, standing and all movement patterns (squats, etc.), my knees and hips have never felt better. I even teach Pilates with a the same position (versus the “Pilates” turn out). Sooooo cool to hear from you!!!!!!!! ❤️

@@susanlofurno8322 Thanks for the response Susan. I'll try the 'toes in-heels out' position and see if it helps the inflammation that I have in my left knee. I'm guessing that working with this chiropractor is the reason that you do chaturangas with your elbows out while I'm always been taught that your elbows 'should graze your ribs'. I've tried the elbows out which seems much easier on my wrists and elbows and I can engage my back and shoulder blades. I still miss taking your classes live and am really grateful for your on-line content. It keeps me motivated and moving! Have a great day.

YES!!!! You are correct....He was a "savant" with regard to the body...and elbows out is another one of his corrections....and it does make a world of difference. He even had hand and arm position corrections for driving. Truly a brilliant man of science.

Hi Susan, I was thrilled when Paula mentioned to me that you had a KZbin channel! I tried this class with tape indicating the size of a bench on the floor because I don't have a step at home and it's been a few years since I've done a step class. It's like riding a bike, it comes back pretty quickly! Next time I'll try a level 3 class. I'm so happy that I found your channel and can do step classes with you again!

Thank You, Susan! I just finished following along to this video from yesterday -- it's been a long and unmotivated day from me today, and this made me feel so much better!! I was sweating so much I nearly slipped and fell out of bound angle, hahaha. Thank you so much, hope you are well!! Sending love and gratitude for this taste of the community. <3

I have been very grateful for all your efforts to keep the RAC women in shape. I have found other classes (live and recorded) but I often come back to one of your KZbins because of all the times I've enjoyed and benefitted from your classes at the RAC. I never knew I could make a comment to you until today. I have missed you as a person also. You always give us such an incentive to keep exercising and healthy - both mind and body. Thank so much.
