I just found your channel.and subscribed. I enjoy watching camping and bushcraft videos almost as much as camping and bushcrafting. Almost. I have several different tarps. Two were very (too) expensive. One very cheap tarp that is terrible. One of my two favorite tarps is the DD 4x4. It is so versatile and the price is very reasonable. I don’t have the 3x3 so I shouldn’t compare but I believe the extra size offers me additional options. I’m sure that it is heavier and takes up more space in my pack. Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective I appreciate you. Peace and prosperity from Texas, USA.

@@user-yu1zp2vu9x Hi, thanks for the sub and the comment. There are a lot of tarps out there, and of ‘varying’ quality. I’m really happy with my 3x3, although in reality I bet there isn’t too much in it compared to the 4x4. For a solo shelter it’s adequate. Here in the UK we’re in the middle of a cold bleak winter, so it’s going to to be a few weeks before I get any camping done, but I have plenty of walks planned. As soon as spring comes I’ll be checking out some bushcrafting

The mud probably makes you feel you're wearing Divers Boots. In the late 70s/early 80s, the pub called Manchester Arms on George Street had a separate bar called Trogg Bar. There was that much beer in the carpet, it felt like you had Divers Boots on.

Good going Dave - I wish you all the best with your plans. The key of course is to enjoy whatever you do. A wild camp and hike is always a good combo - it gives us chance to get into the rhythm of the walk and nature. Subscribed on account of the friendliness. All the best. Mark

It makes me think of The Lord of the Rings. The story and not the films. It wasn't just a story, but Tolkien's frustration and anger of the continuing industrial revolution, the continuation of so-called progress, and the danger of the disappearing woods and the effect on nature.

I never realised JRR was a Luddite! As we wndered around, I though this was a fantasic use of the woodland, and a great way to attract poeple to the out doors. Thanks for the view

As an aside, you can also use the "back" 2 tieouts to tension out to a tree, stick or ridge and give yourself a bit more ceiling at the back.

I like this setup for my 4x4 but I use a ridge line and the "boneless tent" effect is just amazing

A neat tarp configuration, but is there ANY way to close the entrance for a snug night in colder weather?
@Adventurer_DaveАй бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching and for the comment Yes there are many different configurations, this one is (in my opinion the quickest and easiest way to make a full shelter. The opening isn’t as big as it seems, and if you pitch the rear into the wind the opening is an effective vent, stopping condensation, but yes, a shelter can be built with a closed entrance. I’ll look at other configurations in future videos, so please consider subscribing

@ike780Ай бұрын
How do you keep the pole from falling? Ive attempted this and have that issue.
@Adventurer_DaveАй бұрын
Hi Ike. Thanks for stopping by and watching the video. The secret to stopping the pole from falling is down to the tension in the line from the guy line that pegs out to the front. If you get the rope to the right length before you insert the pole you stupidly find it a lot easier. However if it’s because the pole just slips because the tarp material is so smooth, try wrapping a scarf around the top of the pole, or putting a glove over the end. Next time I take the tarp out I’ll try to remember to show this, so please consider subscribing (if you haven’t done so already) 👍

Thanks for sharing, did the carpark have a charge, assuming I would get a long wheel based van in there? Also where do you find your music?
@Adventurer_DaveАй бұрын
Hi, thanks for the sub. Yes there is a charge at the car park...goes off to hunt for a link... www.forestryengland.uk/whinlatter I was there for about 5 1/2 hours by the time I'd had a wander round the visitor centre, and I was charged £10, which is the maximum charge. I sounds expensive (and it is) but it is a decent tarmaced carpark, and I guess the money is going back to funding the forests. There is contactless payment, and if the machine isn't working, they'll still get you as you can pay on the app for a few days after (when they no doubt send you a ticket!!!) You'd get a LWB van in, but if I remember correctly the parking for bigger vehicles is limited. I do my editing on Canva. The pro package goes with licencing for a whole music library (I chose badly for this video I know). Canva links with KZbin and Instagram so they know that you have the rights to use a particulra track

I suspect you would attempt to seek permission if you were able to. I dont see it being an issue if there are just individuals travelling on private land, and they dont cause any issues. The danger is groups travelling that may not show respect and cause damage or leave litter.

Thanks for the encouragement Bob! 😁 I'm thinking of diferent ways to take the channel - especially over the winter now the 'great outdoors' is becoming cold and unwelcoming. 🥶 One thing I want to do is to showcase that most people (even you) can find open spaces to explore within a 15 minute walk of their home. I also want look at some basic route planning, and some of the kit I use on a regular and not so regular basis. Tell you mate to subscribe to the channel - the KZbin influencers and other beautiful people say it's the thing to do!!! 👍
