This looks stressful to me. It took a week for my puppy to get used to a nail grinder. Well worth the time & patience. Yes, a nail grinder takes more time than trimming but less time than this & with a nail grinder you're less likely to cut the quick since you have a chance to go a little at a time. My pup is getting used to the nail grinder & I'm able to do it myself. He still whines a little & does some squirming but that's bc he's had a few bad experiences with nail trimming at the vet's office. Each time we have a good nail grinding session he gets better & better with it. I did alot of research on nail grinders & I went with Lucky Tail nail grinder. Love it.

Consider that your dog is not the target audience for this product. If your dog doesn't have nail trimming anxiety you probably don't need a nail trimming alternative. That's what this is. A nail trimming alternative

I have been looking at different treat puzzles to keep my dog entertained, engaged and "working" for her food (as suggested by our trainer) I absolutely love the idea of this it hits all the points and I figure even if I can't get her to actually file her nails down just the puzzle aspect will at least be stimulating.

I got a large piece of hardboard bought a roll of course sandpaper and glued to the board then taught my dog to 'scratch'..... everytime he scratches or touches board he gets a treat...works really well, to do back paws I lean board against the settee at a high vertical angle, his front paws holds onto the top (as if he's trying to climb over something) as he reachs for a treat his back paws keep sliding down = back nails done...only do for min at the very most, so his paws don't get sore or hurt in any way... Edit: make sure you hold/keep board secure and stable

The pads can become over grown, dry, flaky, and need to be worn down a bit. Often done with a daily walk on pavement or playing on something like a tennis court. But if it hurt or caused any damage they wouldn't be continuing like they eagerly do

@LisaGallegos
@LisaGallegos 3 жыл бұрын
It’s faster to get your dog to scratch and file if they’re terrified. I made my own and didn’t even have to train my dog- he just naturally wanted to do it. Back paws are usually shorter from just walking. Doesn’t help with the dew claws though! But that’s just a few nails which helps a lot!

Some dogs hate getting their nails clipped, even the vet can't do my dogs nails and it literally took me 10 mins to teach my dog how to use it, back paws get worn down quicker as they push off with their back legs more, I love how many people are quick to judge this product without actually trying it, this is more stress free for me than paying for medication that doesn't work and vet visits

From my own experience with a pug. It's much harder to get his front nails than back. And when he goes #2 he usually kicks the ground to "cover" his movement which keeps his back nails WAYYY shorter than his front. This would be a game changer for us.

Hi Tiarra, the dog digs at the 'abrasive' surface, to try and get at the treats inside the special compartment and therefore files the nails on its front paws (this file does not do the back paw nails).

it doesn't work. Especially on the back nails there's no possible way just quit being so lazy and trim your dog's nails or pay someone else to do it. You have to trim their nails for their safety why make it be so difficult and expensive just get them trimmed normally

@diggerdognailfile
@diggerdognailfile 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, this may seem 'ridiculous' to you - however, there are many, many dog owners who struggle with trimming their dogs' nails. My product is specifically and only for the nails on the front paws. If you took the time to look at the website, you would see that. The 'front paw' nails are a lot more problematic - they grow faster and do not get naturally as worn down through the dog's movement. That is a fact.
