It's not clear to me what selcetion is expecting - is it a boolean yes or no for each element being considered, in this case, face? Hvaing picked some faces based on their normals, how can I get access to the selected (or in this case extruded) face normals later down the line?

Lads, don't forget to increase your undo steps SIGNIFFICANTLY in settings. The default is 32. Set it to like 256.

Every face I have is showing 2 colors. Red seems dominant but as I move the camera there are blue strips in every face...? I cannot find anywhere what to look for.

The selection works because "Selection" passes face info up the chain to normal, receives the z component as a number, and casts it to a boolean. Any non-zero number is True.
