Thanks for the laugh at 2:16. Where you were at 7:00 I skipped to the subtraction from 45. Again, I spent too much time pencil marking the grid, finished in 10:30. 4 seconds behind you, and I didn’t explain it while I solved.

Good solve. I struggled more than you did. I did not understand the wording of the cage sum clue rule. In the Sudokupad app the sum clue shows in the topmost cell in the leftmost column. I assumed the rule was explaining what anyone who sets puzzles knows. “Uppermost, leftmost” is not clear. I think “both uppermost row and leftmost column in the cage” would have caused me to not keep reading the rules to see what I missed, or finally giving up and crawling back to Puzzle Patzer to see if you would clear some fog for me. Once I saw how you interpreted the rule I stopped worrying about the red letters and stoped rereading the rules and the enjoyed the solve. Then I finished watching your solve and had a laugh at your expense over that tenacious 2/3 pair between 7/8 candidates in row 4.
@matthewdutton991012 күн бұрын
Completely agree with this. Was not clear about being BOTH upper most and left most. Typically I have seen it only based on the upper most row.

Thank you for solving this puzzle PuzzlePatzer! I saw your comment on it and was excitedly waiting for this video the past 2 days. It was a very fun watch as always. :) The thing you were stuck on between 30:30 and 54:30 is a lot easier to see if you pencilmark the 12 „pair“ in column 1. Then you can see that if r2c7 is a 1, then it breaks column 1. but you got there in the end! Also because you asked about it, if the last hint (r9c5) wasn‘t there, that cell could be 3 or 5. The hint makes it a 3. :D
@PuzzlePatzer17 күн бұрын
Hi Elytron, thank you for creating and sharing such a great puzzle! Is Telekinesis Kropki your invention? I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and the comment as well. Much appreciated! Pencilmarking the 12 pair would have helped a lot! Not sure why I didn't pencilmarks that one in particular. 🤔 Oh I see! Lol, I used that last hint while pencilmarking and pretended that I didn't need it. 🤣
@Elytron17 күн бұрын
@ The Telekinetic Kroptis were my own idea, although after sharing it, it was pointed out to me, that someone else has already come up with this idea some time ago. So while it is technically my invention, I‘m not the first :D

Colouring the odd 10-sum pairs different shades helps see where the 1/3 pairs are, which resolves the Kropki in box 4.

Fun solve. I like to get Bob Seger’s “Night Moves” playing in my head when solving knight move constraint puzzles. You should trust your pencil marks. 7/9 pair in box 2 at 8:53. 4/7 in row 3 at 14:56 with a 4 in the row. As always, I admire your courage to solve puzzles at first glance. Thanks for the “speed run.”
@PuzzlePatzer22 күн бұрын
Good song! Trusting my pencilmarks gets me in trouble more often than not! 😀 But you're right, I should. Solving at first glance is how I end up with 40+ minutes 'speedruns' lol and 'entertaining' solves 😆 Though to be completely transparent, 'first glance' is here a bit misleading as I chose the puzzles myself (unless someone recommends one) which means that I read the rules in advance to pick something that sounds fun.

Excellent puzzle, lots of fun. Solved it in 28:37. Your notation gets confusing sometimes. The digits you write in a cell sometimes indicate all the digits that can go into a cell or all the places a particular digit can go in a block. This was especially confusing at 37:38 in block 6. It is better to distinguish the two, e.g. by using Snyder notation (using digits in the corner of the cell to indicate all the places a digit can go in a block). When you get stuck, it can help to write in all candidates that can go in a cell. This would have sped you up several times in the solve. E.g. at 13:22 the cell r4c3 became a naked single (28 can't go there b/c of the 5, 369 because of the column and 47 because of the 7 next to it). But you never noticed it and placed the 1 by eliminating it from r4c1 at 18:22. Similarly, at 31:19 you placed 5 to r2c2, leaving only 3 possible options in column 2, so in particular r3c2 can only be 369 at this point, but both 3 and 6 would create 3 and 6 next to each other with r4c2, so r3c2 must be 9.
@PuzzlePatzer28 күн бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I'll try to stick to the notation convention in the future. It is a great puzzle and that's a really good time.
