Nice video on feral hops but someone should proofread the closed captions. Mistakes include "pharaoh" and "federal" for "feral." And there's more. Check it out.

Wow, this was a fascinating video. I'd been doing some analysis on Elder Larry Grant's speech because I was trying to learn some hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ words with his recordings. I thought I heard some features of southern Chinese dialects in his recorded samples. I originally thought it was Hoisan dialect but it's most likely Sekke dialect (if anything at all). I had a great time being wrong =D

The documentray showed it's the 洪clan from 泗門村, Chungshan. Those area always spoke SK dialect to "outsiders" BUT their mother tounge (村話) is a type of Zhongshan Min (中山閩語) .

Weren’t we lucky to have had the opportunity to grow up in this city when even having to travel from Victoria drive by bus and back with very few Pennie’s we always knew that one shopping stop would be this exciting, busy, friendly and happy shop to visit with your Mum Thanks for the memories

Wonderful background by John Atkin on the history of the signage and their locations around Vancouver. I know this particular exhibition is closing at the end of June - and a number of the signs are being restored for a return to public display in the downtown - but as there are numerous neon signs throughout the MOV galleries (particularly those covering the 1950s-1970s) will those be taken down as well, or shall they remain as part of the displays?
@MuseumofVancouver2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Those signs that you specifically mention will remain on display in the History Galleries.

Why are the number of mushroom species going to increase ?
@WildcraftDyeing3 жыл бұрын
The number of species is going up as we both understand fungi better and can identify more species. It's more a case of realizing there are distinct species we've just assumed are all just one species when really there are a lot more out there as we learn more. It's also a case of more people being interested in mushrooms and looking for them - sometimes we get lucky and can identify things we didn't know were present here in BC before.

@MuseumofVancouver3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! The Lichen Zoe mentions is Xanthoria parietina. You’ll find it on the branches of maples - especially near, or over, creeks and ditches, etc.

The Ishaan and Ankita Show agreed! We can honour them by acknowledging the history surrounding the pre-colonization of Vancouver.
