What temp did you dry at? 125F or 95F for cultures? How full were trays? 1/2 full?

Hello! Thank you very much for the video. I am from Argentina and here it is very difficult to find freeze dryers. Can I ask you a question? Does the oil in the vacuum machine contain water? Every few extractions do you change the oil? THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!

Is good to be aware that the whey protein and the whey itself are way different from each other. It takes a impossible to replicate at home process to make that whey become concentrated and high in protein per gram. The whey itself has a very small protein percentage. Less than 1 gram in 100g. But it's closer to the cheaper ones that has much more carbs and some fat than protein in the package, as the pure whey itself.

Thank you for your efforts in educating others according to your HR experiences but I just purchased and set up our HR Freeze Dryer and in the owner manual it says very clearly that by using your machine in the Function Test Mode and bypassing the automatic process the dryer goes through on its own, you are voiding your warranty and potentially harming your machine. I also would never heat up a plastic candy wrap to a high temperature while food is in it, pretty sure that type of food-grade plastic packaging is not rated/meant for hot foods and you could be leaching potentially harmful chemicals into the candy.

So I’ve seen a few of issues with home freeze dryers over commercial “scientific” freeze dryers. The main one being it’s usually to much for the bud, you start to lose quality because it’s not the right environment for the bud to cure correctly. Now the lower temps are ofc better and have help that issue, but hasn’t solved it, the bud still seems really dry and it doesn’t look as potent in general. Ig my questions are is what I said true or am I talking out my ass, and two of what I said is true, or even semi true, would the moisture packs designed for marijuana help bring the buds back to life.

Another smaller issue because most of not all the “cheaper” freeze dryers have is the lack of features that the commercial freeze dryers have. Im interested to see the ways people will work around this with modifications.

perhaps it turned out this way because you had too much liquid in the dryer? I have seen other videos when it comes out just like other things without any stickiness. Or maybe it was the sheets you wrapped them in? I am going to try doing coffee creamer in the next week so hoping it turns out well.

Makes sense to add flavor and powdered milk/cream after rehydrating the whey - otherwise it is just plain liquid whey again 😊 Thank you for showing us that it does indeed freeze dry well... with a hint of cheese flavor 😉

Good Lord, I'm in the exact same boat, the 1st usb board DID NOT fix my issue of it not reading any usb keys and I'm re-engaging their tech support now(4 weeks so far). We haven't even gotten to my original issue of the unit not starting the drying cycle after 8+ hours of vacuum/freeze mode. I'm starting to think these things are garbage.

See, the best thing to do is a marinated, sous vided, and smoked American Wagyu top round. It's still an inexpensive cut of meat relatively, has barely any fat content after it has been rendered, and it has a smoke flavor. If you freeze dry that, there's no worry about BS dehydrating, it's fully cooked, and you have way more of a tang. I've been doing that for over a year now and I will put the beef into a jerkey gun to make flat strips that are now tenderized or they can be left in a beef stick consistency.

@jaydubyo

One way would be to weigh the fresh bud and then weigh that very same Bud after it's been dried and then you will get a rough estimate of its moisture content

Thank you so much for sharing this video! I got my machine in July and it's never worked right. After trying to get help from HR for month and a half. The USB board has failed updates, so now I have USB board to try and install. So many and frustrating interactions with the service team. At least I get where I may be in the process and hope this lemon may get corrected eventually. Really appreciated your video, thanks so much
