Harmonics have been the "secret sauce" that has made my flute practice in adult life incredibly effective. There are times when I have had to rebuild my embouchure after life events which precluded daily practice. There I found it most helpful to start the initial tone of a harmonic sequence with a "whistle tone" to help me find correct positioning. Once back into daily practice, it becomes less essential.

I am 60 years old, and have continued to play flute, and will be playing for Easter services tomorrow. I almost wept with joy having found this site, and the private teacher I lacked all these years. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is such a delight listening to your directions, then playing with you. What a wonderful gift you've given me!

I think you have the birth and death dates incorrect for Arthur Honegger. The Oxford Companion to Music, the Grove Concise Dictionary of Music and IMSLP all give his dates as being 1892 to 1955. These dates are also printed on the music that you show in the video.

Thank you for letting us discover this seldom played piece. Was it written for flute originally? I do not see trace of it.

Oh my! This was so incredibly helpful and de-mystifying. Thank you for explaining, integrating and demonstrating the 3 variables to employ (+ ah to ooo vowel change) when changing register. I watched this video at .25 normal speed to get a really good understanding of what is supposed to happen. Fabulous! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Thank you so much for this. It is such clear and direct teaching. So important during this time of isolation; especially for a mature player wanting to improve to play, as you mention, for church services. I am now a follower and fan.
