I designed the signalling system without the automatic block signals between the stations. Sub ordinates and Trade unions critisied my design , push me out the chair and introduced automatic block signals between the stations. As the sea water hits the track block signal failed . As a safety rule Tain shall not pass the signal without the train was piloted by guard to the satatiion. Near by villagers also felt that the Train was the heighest place for their safety. Unfortunately a second big wave came and toppled the train and pushed the train 500 m away. When all this happened then GMR Priyal de Silva was in the control.office

My condolences to all the people who lost their loved ones to this tragedy. Some of the train cars are still there as memorials I think. I'm not sure if they are still there now but I've been there as a kid.💔

When I was watching this video, I paused in between to read the given lines- still ,I felt the anxiety and pressure increasing in me !Deadliest !

It is so painful to remember how many thousands of people died due to that tsunami! IAM from Chennai, many children & adults who went to Marina Beach to play Cricket or some other game or went for walking, didn’t come back ! A severe , unbelievable shock -painful to know , difficult to believe and understand and very shocking to register it in the mind ! These incidents of Nature’s fury make us understand how small is Man before The Powerful Nature ! My deep condolences to all the people who lost their Near& Dear ones on that day ! Om Shanthi 🙏
